The 2 series courtesy car is gone and bmw who are looking after me well have swapped me into this.
I'm not sure how one goes about plugging in as in is there a point in doing it if you don't have home charger? and where can I charge it?

A friend has been running about in one of these for a couple of weeks.
She has a troublesome Peugeot 5008....Company car.
Hence the 330e rental.
She didn't like it....Good to drive (bear in mind she's only had her 5008 on the road for a couple of days this year!! So has been in many hire cars).
Didn't plug it in as she has nowhere to plug it in to.
Small boot due to batteries, so no dog cages fit!
And small petrol tank so she feels as if she's filling up every couple of days.

I think you can charge it at home using a 3 pin to type 2 connector should be full after a night of charging I would have thought, might as well so you get the full power and experience a bit of EV running

Is there a charging cable in the boot? You’re a member of David Lloyd are you not? I think they’ve got charging points on site.

There are these 2 in the boot. I'm guessing the yellow one is the 3pin and it goes into an extension cable at home.
I'm thinking the other one may work at david lloyds.
Leap of faith hope I dont screw up home electrics etc. Will give it a go just to get a feel

The 3-pin plug one is a 2.3kW charger (aka 'granny cable') - the battery would take 4-5 hours to go from empty to fully charged using that.

The other cable is 7kW max, but I'm not sure if the car supports that charging speed, or if it maxes out at 3.6kW charge capacity - it's not that important for a hybrid, as the battery is quite small, so not like you've got a huge battery to fill up.

Yeah just plug the yellow cabled 3-pin in.
It will pull </=10a so as long as your wiring is ‘normal’ ie installed to regs, then any 3-pin socket will be rated at 13a, so just plug and go.
The car will tell you straight away that it’s charging.

Small batteries in these (albeit they take up loadsa boot space so it won’t take long to charge as robbiep says

Is your F15 sitting low at the back, or just the angle of that picture?

The angle of the driveway on that side is wonky.
Not great for cars with air suspension as ive had the airbag on that side replaced once. Once started and moving it levels out.

Charging has been a hit and a miss..couple of times the extension cable connected to the 3pin seems to have tripped terminating Charging with the message 'Charging error voltage too low'.
The car is very comfy soaks up broken roads etc very well no transmitted noise into the cabin..g series is a million miles from the f 3 series I still think if it had around 80 miles range and 2hrs to charge and the engine underneath I'd buy it tomorrow.

The Merc GLC hybrid latest model might be just what you need..... although when you say 2 hours charging, do you mean on a granny charger? Doubt that would fill an e-bike! 31.2kw battery might take all night on a home charger....! (all night means all of the 4 or 6 cheap hours on a suitable electric tariff)

On a regular charger. I don't have experience of them yet. A bit shy to take out the kit in public chargers. Mrs loves the electric miles in the 330e...just because she's a speed freak and the instant response is nice.

you'll be lucky to get 30 miles in 2 hours on a home charger.... the Merc will take 4 to 5 hours I'd imagine....

I added 140miles in 60 mins at a public charger today with a battery that was pretty cold...

Regarding home chargers :

With the 'granny cable', it'll put in <10 miles of electric-only range per hour of charging
A 7kW 'fast' charging point (the max you can get at home, unless you want to invest in a 3 phase supply) will put in 25-30 miles of range per hour.
The faster public ('rapid') chargers are anything from 22kW upwards (80 miles range per hour or higher)

The 330 has a max charging rate of 3.7kW/hr - so even if you had a fast charger at home it wouldn't be able to make full use of it - but it'd be pointless investing in that sort of charger for a 330e or other hybrid, as the battery is quite small.

Which makes it all the more annoying when the local 22kW chargers are taken up by one

My first all electric trip to work. I'm loving the silence and lack of drama to get going. The suspension is great. Even on the worst broken roads there is no chatter. Its on 18in rft's
When I started from home it showed 18miles electric range available
Having done 13.6 miles it still says 13 miles available. I think I'll get home in electric mode only. I did drive very sensibly.

For that kind of EV range (close to 70 miles) you'll need to look at an X5 50e I think it charges in 4 hours and they quote around 67 miles range. It's a bit of a beast with almost 500hp combined with the engine.
