Stick shift mods

All,

I'm selling my 2021 Supra and picking up a 2018 340i xDrive w/ a 6 speed manual transmission at the end of the month. Looking for mod recommendations - is there a short shifter kit that is the "norm" I've heard good things about the Ultimate Clutch Pedal as well...anything else to consider?

BMS Clutch stop. Came with my car and I would’ve installed it the first day if it wasn’t on there already. I want an RTD shifter badly as well, they just released their shifter for b58 fitment

My eventual 6MT setup:
CDV removal
Ultimate clutch pedal
Remove OEM shifter bushings for aftermarket
Auto Solutions Short Shift Kit
Rogue Engineering transmission mount
Clutch stop

Right now have just the CDV delete and clutch stop

How easy was the CDV delete? Any downsides to this modification?

It was $20 after shipping and taxes, I went ahead and ordered it. I'm buying the car in Spokane and driving it back here to Kansas City, I'll probably install it as soon as I pull into my garage.

Was the CDV delete easy to do? Any downside or negative side effects of this modification?

It is relatively easy. You remove an underpanel, pop open the brake line feeding the slave cylinder on the transmission, insert a wood screw and remove the CDV and washer. Kern has a good video here:

My recommendation is just to drive it, then identify the weaknesses you want to fix. Some people like smooth shifts, and some like notchy feel. It really just depends on the user.

The only thing I've done is the clutch stop and CDV delete. I don't find the throws excessively long and most short shifters make the shifts notchy.

The Rogue Engineering transmission mounts are only $60 and the ECS shifter bushings are only $60 so I'll start with those and not get a $500 short shift kit unless I'm still unsatisfied. I think the Ultimate Clutch Pedal is an awesome option though so I'll probably get that one either way

The pedal has brass bushings which are super nice, and it's metal, not plastic. No side to side movement. Another thing you can try short of the pedal upgrade is removing the return spring. I had nice results with that, and then better results with the ucp. If you search for return spring there's a few threads about it. You want to leave the plastic piece in but can remove the spring.

I don't hate the shifter feel, as far as I've found most BMW short shifter kits are junk, maybe there's a good one. I've not really seen anyone changing it on the 340.
