Rust on rear axle, Concern?
Hi everyone, had my oil change done and BMW did a walk through video inspection and pointed out that i have rust on one side of my rear axles. does this eat through and break the axle or is this just out rust that i really do not need to be concerned about?
thanks for any info! 2013 328XI Pics https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QNL...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nTI...usp=drive_link Last edited by brichi; 01-04-2024 at 09:38 AM.. |

That's not out of the ordinary where roads get salted in winter. Yes, it might cause the axle to fail, in another 50 years or so. But it doesn't do the car any good either. I have a can of spray undercoat handy in my garage. Whenever I get underneath to do any work I spritz it on any rust I see.
