Adaptive LED headlight - outer ring is dim/yellow
Hi all, I feel I have a somewhat expensive repair coming up - just a few days ago I noticed my outer ring on my passenger's side headlight is now appearing dim and yellow looking.
I've done some searches (but need to research more), it seems the internal light tube gets melted and there is no easy repair for this. This is my only car, so I don't have the luxury of a lot of downtime and coding, etc. to get it fixed - for now it appears only to be cosmetic. Should I try to find a sympathetic dealer who can offer to replace things at a reduced amount after i complain, try to find a used one, or perhaps try something like Bayoptiks (or another headlight specialist) who can try to fix or sell a set of something else? Some i know have had luck with AliExpress as well...but for something as important as headlights? My car is a 2019 340 GT (F34 platform) with only 50k miles, so it's fairly new. Unfortunately the F34 headlights are unique and not the same as other F3x platforms. -New adaptive LED is about $1900-2200 (BMW) -FCP Euro has a Valeo part that seems to work for $700 (I need to research this more as it seems to good to be true). -Bayoptiks are ??? -AliExpress are between $600-800 for a pair -Turning off daytime running lights in the iDrive control panel costs $0, but the dim ring appears at night time. What would you do? pics for clicks (headlight are not really this scratched/pitted in person, but it sure looks horrible in photos with a dirty car). |

you wouldn’t need to replace the whole headlight, just the headlight module that lights up the angel eyes. they’re not super expensive, it’s probably the easiest and cheapest way to fix your headlights too.

Thanks for the replies - this is great information.
I think I'll give the module replacement a try first and see if that does it. For $150 or so, it's at least worth a try first. |
