Protrack one alloys

I've had my f32 M sport for 6 years this year and fancy freshening it up a little bit with some Protrack one alloys.

The specs I'm looking at are

18x 8 et30 235/45
18x 9 et30 255/40

A few questions really.

1) What colour would go best with mineral grey and Blue brake calipers( silver, anthracite or Satin black)

2) If bought through CP motorsport, will i get a fitting kit and nuts or is this something I'd have to source myself?

3) Has anyone had experience with these alloys?

Personally I'd go with a straight set of 18x9 all round and run 245/40 tyres - will look much better and will be better handling / better turn in feel

Anthracite is a lovely colour in the flesh; exactly the same wheels I had on my E81 130i LE - this is when I fitted them:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/...=2093671&i=460

Superb wheels; superb light and very well made

Re fitting; just get new bolts all round, or a stud conversion kit etc

I love the Anthracite, not sure grey on grey would be the best look though. I'm pretty set that if I do go for aftermarket wheels, it'll be these.

So because the OEM nuts are tapered, does that mean I can use these with the new alloys? (I'm not planning on adding spacers)

Silver would look superb; but when I enquired about them, I was told it was a 5 month back log; so worth asking now

However you could always get them refurbished

They take OEM nuts fine; no need for any aftermarket ones; unless you buy new ones so they don't look scabby etc

And 18x9 ET30 should be perfect, no need for spacers etc

Nice and light those wheels but personally not a fan of how they look on newer BMWs. Better suited to E90s and Golfs imo. They just look too aftermarket for my tastes and not cohesive like the standard wheels.

I'd be going Compomotive MO6 personally, 8x18 front and 9x18 rear, but they can't be arsed to drill the 9J in 5x120. Really shit company to deal with, but they do look good on F30s.

I've decided against the protracks & now I'm trying to decide if I should go for gloss gunmetal 2Forge ZF6's or matt gunmetal JR SL02's. Both would be 18x 9j et35 front and rear. I'd be adding BMW centre caps to whatever I get.

I've used gemini to create some images of what they would look like on my car. What do you reckon?

I've decided on 18" Bola FLC's in matt grey in the end. They've got that lightweight OEM+/ arch filling fitment that I'm looking for.

After reading this I spent a while on the Bola site, I really like the FP2 as well

Hmmm, not a fan of the Bola FLC. I think the 2Forge look better but we like what we like

Yeah the Protraks look a lot better on an E90 I would prefer less square and tapered spokes though, a bit straighter and rounded off like the Team Dynamics ProRace 1.

Anything is better than OEM 19s in terms of weight though. Dear god those things are heavy. Add to those the weight of run flats and the 370mm discs etc, no wonder they skip about all over the shop on crap roads and kill off OE dampers quickly.

When I removed the 216s from my 130i LE and then fitted the Protracks; the difference they made was amazing... The take off from a dead start was much, much better; turn in feel was better and the way you could feel the steering more was eye opening...

The 216s weigh a ton compared to the Protracks - they really impressed me

Tell me about it, I've just removed my 400m winters and gone back to the 442m (moved away from the runflats) and they ruin the way the car drives in every way possible.

Seen a few of the FLC's on m140i's and they remind me of the m3 513m. Hopefully the weight saving and meatier tyre will transform how the car drives.

So I've still not decided on the new alloys that I want as of yet. I'm 100% on them being 18" though and want to get something ordered this week.

Does anybody have any experience with the VC359 (359m rep)? Will fit over the 370mm front calipers on a f3*? What is the quality like? Its not a flow formed wheel like the Bolas I've been looking at, but it has a bit more BMW heritage to it.

I'd be looking at 8.5 et35 front on 235/45 and 9.5 et45 rear with 265/40 tires. I really like the idea of the thick sidewall on these too.

Any help would be appreciated

Yup they'll fit over the brakes, seen them on a few motors now

Best folk to speak to are Mark & Co that have BMAutosport: http://www.bmautosport.co.uk
