Definitive pad kit for 320d 2018

I am having some drama finding a genuine front BMW pad kit for my car. That is the kit which comes with the pad sensor.

The discs are 312mm and the correct pads only part number will be 34118855010.

However realoem (and park BMW) give the wrong part number for the pad kit. They say it is 34112468431, but it isn’t. I bought that kit and it has the pads for the 316d etc in, not the ones for the 312mm disc. You can tell this too when you do an “applies to” on that part number, it lists the 316d.

Does anybody know the correct BMW pad kit part number for the 312 discs?!

VIN is A690847.

Thanks!

Put the last 7 digits of your VIN into the box at the top of the page and it'l bring up your car; go to the brakes diagram and all the part numbers will be in there

Thanks for the reply.

As per my post there’s some ambiguity with that method. The pad kit realoem says is definitely wrong.

Ignore any online part lookups that only use model & engine, as they don't know the specific build of your vehicle...that's why you should only go by the VIN and RealOEM part number lookup (even BMW parts departments ask for the VIN).

Just order 34118855010 as you know it's the correct number.

Sometimes (definitely not always) RealOEM/BMW will offer 2 numbers in different parts of the lookup (apart from the options for m-sport pad and/or disc upgrades), purely using the OE pad code and another for a more recently introduced 'value range' pad (which may be identical anyway).

Discounted price:

...and if you don't mind taking the risk of the wrong brand turning up, then Autodoc offer some premium brands among their budget crap...

As mmm-five has said; the correct part number is as stated - on eBay UK it points to many brands; but OE are Textar & Jurid; so these Textar pads are what's needed: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391887845193

And unless your wear sensor has worn through or is damaged; simply reuse it. But if you want a new one; this is all you need: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314576974871

If you want better brake pads that have excellent bite from cold and little to no dust; then the ATE Ceramic pads via Autodoc are excellent: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ate/7885783

They're not as cheap as the Textar pads; but they're well worth it IMO

Thanks all, much appreciated.

I’ve had bad experiences with non-OEM pads on this car for some reason, I always seem to get steering wheel wobble after a few months, so I was going to give genuine a go this time!

Unless you've bought cheap pads (ie bog standard cheapo pads via ECP or basic Brembo pads from ECP) then really you shouldn't have had issues

Wheel wobble is generally caused by pad deposits left on the disc faces - and any pads will do this; more so if it's an auto and you hold on the brakes at the lights rather than using the handbrake etc

They can generally be cleared by some hard but safe braking...

OE pads will do the same FYI - not just cheap pads

I run OE BMW pads on my F31 running the 370/345mm Brembo brakes with genuine M Performance dimpled/slotted discs and they're superb; dusty, but very good braking...

That's where ceramic coating of the wheels comes in; they're a doddle to clean

FWIW I've run those Textar pads on a few cars with zero issues; last car I ran them on was an F01 730D with 2 piece Brembo discs and they were faultless, would highly recommend them if you don't want to spend silly money

Thanks for the insight.

The pads I currently have on there that have developed the wheel wobble are infact those Textar ones, with a Zimmerman disc.

My hope was that OEM pads and discs might be less susceptible.

Unfortunately not - same issue across all pads

And not a fan of Zimmerman discs; they used to be good but their quality has gone downhill of late

Personally I'd go for the ATE Ceramic pads via Autodoc; they'll serve you well
