F30/31 Samsung screen mirroring

Hello all. When I bought my March 2018 3 series I was told I couldn't match my Samsung S23 to the display. I'm now getting adverts on Facebook which suggest that it is possible to mirror my phone on the screen if I'm prepared to pay.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem that works? I can't be allowed anywhere near technology so I'd have to pay someone to do this for me!

Thanks for any help.

I would avoid anything advertised on FB, theres a massive amount of information here on MMI units, if no one else comments I will post some links later if you havent found em, rushing off to the grindstone now.

It gets plenty of recommendations for sure. Check out my previous post, it wasn't compatible with my IDrive 6. From memory you should only need coding if you need to use the Aux input and it's not on your source list, I avoided anything that used the Aux input to preserve the audio. The IA unit completely bypasses internal audio on the MMI unit and it doesn't use any additional microphone etc, there seems to be many complaints when driving and using your phone with units that use there own microphone.

I had a go at Mirroring and it didn't go too well. Could be because I'm using a Chinese import, my phone is a Vivo X200 Ultra. It just wouldn't connect, I seem to remember trying this before. It may work with a Samsung phone so hopefully someone else will be able to help. I had to download MLink via a link on the Mr12v website, my phone did not like it, I went ahead and overrided the security warnings but no joy. I also had to create a specific SSID and password for my MMI unit, that connection was successful. Android Auto does not support native use of mirroring for safety reasons, apparently all you need is an app, MLink was the only one that didn't absolutely bombard me with adverts, got to watch them sneaky feckers. I did see some devices that claim to support mirroring, will have to look into those.

You can buy an adaptor from amazon for £20 that says it will do it, the only thing is you cant even start without an MMI unit so you have to choose one of those first. I only use mine for Waze and even then It has its drawbacks, you cant use the touch screen, everything has to be navigated through the IDrive control, this is just one of the reasons I want a newer car, it works perfect but it feels clunky, the wife just cant use it, good job she doesnt drive! She tries to interact with Waze when it asks if things are still there and she always closes the bloody navigation, she doesnt see where the highlighted box is, I can work it just fine though.
