This movie looks sick however. Plus its a Emmerich movie, you know he'll just destroy a landmark just for the hell of it.

I love that quote! But yeah, i'm a little more superstitious than i would like. especially all the coincidence w/ the 9/11 incident (devil in the clouds etc.) If it isn't true, i just feel a little ticklish inside at all my buddies who are stocking up on ammo and rifles and the such. but if it does... then... well.. hmm

There is a lot more detail to Nostradamus than there is in information on the Mayan calendar. It's interesting to contemplate. Are you ready for it?

Most of this has to do with 1 of 2 things.

First off, whenever you hear ANYTHING using Nostradamus as a credible source you should immediate call BS. His predictions were incredibly vague and are really foretelling of only life itself. Things will happen. So if things inevitably do happen, should I be credited with the prediction right now? Absolutely not.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostradamus
Quote:
Since his death only the Prophecies have continued to be popular, but in this case they have been quite extraordinarily so. Over two hundred editions of them have appeared in that time, together with over 2000 commentaries. Their popularity seems to be partly due to the fact that their vagueness and lack of dating make it easy to quote them selectively after every major dramatic event and retrospectively claim them as "hits" (see Nostradamus in popular culture).
Second, the whole Mayan calender thing is also quite far fetched. The media and all the articles that herald it as the future don't tell the whole picture. The Mayan calender runs in intertwined and cascaded cycles. There are cycles inside of cycles of different magnitude. Think of it like roughly like time, 60 seconds is a minute, 60 minutes is an hour, etc. Where a minute would be a small cycle, and a hour would be an average cycle. The Mayan calendar's largest cycle is somewhere in the vicinity of 5000 years. And their calender ends precisely on the last day of the macro cycle. So, for instance if they were to continue the calendar it would have to go on for another 5000 years. So knowing this. put yourself into the shoes of a calendar scriber in Mayan culture, thousands of years ago. You write a calender that extends over 1-2 thousand years into the future. Wouldn't you consider that to be sufficient? Why the hell would you go out of your way to extend it another 5000 years (the macro cycle). Even today, our calenders don't go nearly that far into the future. There is no reason for them to. In 2000 years, once we have expanded beyond the stars if someone comes back to earth and finds a wall clock does that mean they should thing we had 12 hour days?

Just in case your rebuttal is that while true on an individual nature, when both of these sources converge to predict or tell the same information then it shouldn't be ignore or taken for chance. And I would agree if that was the case, but remember that Nostradamus' prophecies didn't even carry a date of any form in them, ever. They were incredibly vague, and anything of specific context that someone might promote as foretelling is simply their own interpretation of the translation.

Forget nostradamus and predictions. Just look at all the factual information the sumerians had on the planet placement within the solar system and the colors of the planets. They were thousands of years ahead in their solar system knowledge, a mystery we still haven't figured out.

2012 will be an event. The mayan cycle changes. Whether that has any real world impact will be determined. Hopefully something wonderful does happen to end all the hate and suffering in the world. I wouldnt mind that.

This was one of the 2 quatrains that poeple claimed foretold of 09/11/2001

Two brothers torn apart by Chaos,
while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb",

I don't think the world is going to end, but it is a bit concerning how well the Mayans could time solar anomalies such as eclipses and planetary alignments thousands of years before they would happen.

sorry to go off topic from your mayan talk, and ima let you finish but
2012 is when Breaking Dawn, the final install of the Twilight series comes out in theater, thus blowing up the planet from the high pitch screams of little girls due to seeing robert pattinson (edward cullen) nude.

the final book has alot of sex scenes and is going to be rated R. i personally didnt read the book, but almost all my female friends cant stop talking about it
-______-

thank you for your time. just giving my 2 cents. you may continue

there's too many doomstories at once i can't follow up lol. One i saw was about a comet in a giant trajectory, it's ellipse stretches out of the milkyway and it supposedly turns back pretty close around earth. One theory is the Mayans saw it on it's way back and they predicted when it would be back ... which is total bullshit lol. They did however track a far away object moving at high speed in the 50's, as did they in the 70's, calculating the distance between it in the time given, that would actually mean it would arrive here at about 2012 ... Ah well
