They were expecting too much of it, IMO. Liked Needell, Smith and Ford anyway.

Fifth Gear first aired in 2002 after the original incarnation of Top Gear was ‘rested’ in 2001 due to poor ratings.

Several former Top Gear presenters, including Butler-Henderson were hired by Five to present the show.

The self-confessed tomboy raced karts as a child and competed in Formula First.
As one of the few high-profile women motoring experts, she is not likely to be off the circuit for long. Her husband Phil Churchward is series director of Top Gear.

Five said it was proud of Fifth Gear but that it was ‘time to try something new’.

Bummer. It had its own charm, and while obviously a more UK specific show than TG, still enjoyable.

Agreed. I enjoyed the races between Tiff and Jason. It's nice to see performance cars compare by actually seeing how well they perform against each other in the hands of two talented drivers. That's the one part of the show I think they did better than Top Gear. Somehow, Clarkson racing the stig isn't as convincing, especially if/when Clarkson gets trounced.

fifth gear suck IMO. It is not enjoyable to watch at all even I know tiff and plato are good driver. They just simply not entertaining as the top gear crew. top gear is the most entertaining one.

yup...unfortunately....good driver doesn't equal to good TV presenters....

Obviously Fifth Gear wasn't half as good as Top Gear (I found myself fast-forwarding a lot of it because it was so boring sometimes) but it did help fill in the long Top Gear gaps. However, it was a billion times better than Top Gear Australia and Top Gear Russia.

On a side note, I'm still pissed they didn't release the pilot of Top Gear America. I went to the taping expecting to hate it, and I walked out very impressed.

i'd rather do anything else but watching Fifth Gear....

if TG america is not going to be boardcast...at least put it on internet....no point if shooting it and not show it....
