For your amusement I will post the misery I went through for the last 2-2.5 hours. Tell me, is it me? Do I just not get it? Was I not clear? How do idiots like this function?

I just had this exchange with my Father's cable company....

TTD Maribeth : Thank you for that information. Give me one moment please, while I pull up your account.
allen: no problem
TTD Maribeth : Thank you for waiting.
allen: no problem
TTD Maribeth : With your billing concern, I checked and it shows your previous bill was $97.7 and the payment made was only for $20.44. The balance from that bill was added to the current statement.
allen: ye si understand that
allen: but my service should only be $56
allen: where does $97 come from?
TTD Maribeth : Your bill for September to October.
allen : ya why is it $97
allen: oct-nov is $56 as it should be
TTD Maribeth : Please give me a moment to review your bill.

allen: sept-oct should be 56.39
allen: 20 of which was paid

TTD Maribeth : I have here the account and it shows your bill for 9/27/09 - 10/26/09 was $118.21, then you made a payment for $20.44. The balance ($97.77) from that bill was added to your current bill which is also your account past due balance now.

allen: my service is $56 why would my bill be $97?
TTD Maribeth : You have the Ultra View and the cable card lease.
allen: actually that bill was over 100 bc the balance was 97
allen: cable card lease is $2
allen : my service is 51.99
allen: including the cable card
allen: plus $4.40 in taxes
allen : thats $56.39
allen: this month and last month together would be 112.78
allen: of which my dad paid $20
allen: so my balance should be $92

allen: but how is that previous bill that high?
allen: in fact when I ordered I was told it would be 44.99 plus $2 for the cable card

allen: now Im seeing they added $5 for HD view
allen: I understand the past due amount is 97 an dit was added to this bills $56

TTD Maribeth : To find and view your statement online, you need to login first to your online account at www.update.charter.com. Then, once you are already in, just click the Charter ePay menu/option. You just need to scroll down and navigate the site until you reach and see your current billing statement as well as your previous billing statements.

I actually read all that but didnt do the math at the end. So the bill didnt add up to what the lady was saying the whole time? lol, she couldnt seem to explain the extra few dollars on the bill. Maybe the cable company just charges everybody a few extra bucks and pockets it?

My issue was she kept repeating that the previous balance was added to the current bill but my question was "why was the previous bill so high". She kept repeating the previous bill had a balance added to the current bill. I wanted to punch a hole in the wall!!!!

I tried getting on the phone, they wouldnt answer, I was getting disconnected.

I feel your pain... I have been through this several times. Now, I just tell them to cancel my service immediately when it gets this bad. Either they put someone on who isn't a total moron, or I find a better company...
