*vmaxx Progress/write Up Thread*
Just ordered the first set of vmaxx coilovers for the e90 (saloon) from pete@stratmosphere. They will be here tues and will be put on over the weekend. So far the service at Stratmosphere has been top notch and very fast shipping! I will post picks during the install and before and after pics. I will write up a full review after a few days of riding on them!
Right now im on stock shocks and H&R Sport springs and the ride is not bad on 19s so we will see how these budget coils ($599) turn out. STAY TUNED

Yes!
I will have a complete write up next weekend with pics but this weekend i only had time to complete the fronts since it took longer than expected and i had to take my friends supercharger off in the same day. As for the fronts i am very impressed on how they ride especially since there pretty much all the way down. The design is well done and fits like oem. The only thing that took me a while was getting the stock shock out! Another minor problem i had was i had to sand down the inner area where the shock slides into place a bit because i just couldnt get it completly down. It was no big deal i just took some 200 grit to it and then some molly lube! For the ride quality they are perfect for a daily driver! not crazy stiff but not to soft. on a side not my car looks amazing. i had to pull my fenders a bit and cut some of the finder lining out becuase when turned the wheels my tires rape my fenders! next week when i finish everything up i will try to have good pictures with more detail with them.

I don't think these are interchangeable since they dont have damper controls. But hey I could be wrong. Waiting for them to develop one for the E92 and I'll be ordering asap!

Really? I thought that aftermarket suspensions were swappable between e90s and e92s? Ps...I know nothing.

Alright, i apologize for the delay. Ive been really busy and just didnt have time.
So just to elaborate on the first couple of post I started talking to Stratmosphere a few weeks ago about selling me the first set 1001# of the coilovers for the e90(saloon) and i would glady get back to them with feedback of what i liked and disliked. Day 1 I opened the box and laid everything out and could not find any diagrams for the correct orientation when installed so i figured no big deal since installing my H&R Sports wasnt to difficult. Day 2 The fronts were a breeze except for the struggle of getting the stock shock out. After realizing how tight it was i took some 200 grit to the part that holds the shock and sanded away. Then covered with molly lube just like from the factory. After getting everything tightened up and dropped back down i realized i needed to pull the fenders a bit and cut some of the inner finder. Not a whole lot just a small piece thats in between the fender and front bumper. As for pulling and rolling the front i took the handle of a rubber screwdriver and just put it in between tire and fender and kept at it till it was even. -the same day my friend and i had to take off his vortech to get rebuilt with better propeller, new seals, etc.. so we didnt have the energy to tackle the rear. Day 3 Now came the difficult part of doing the rears... It took me 4 1/2 hours to do one side and 1/2 hour to do the other. ill explain Since v-maxx lacks the ability to provide some sort of diagram i couldnt figure out for the life of me how the rear coils went in. Didnt know what stock grommets and isolators to use??? At the top of the spring in the rear there is a iso and metal "perch" that need to come out for the vmaxx perch to fit in perfectly. So after we figured out that one and only problem we dropped the car... why was it sitting higher than H&R sport so we jacked it back up and cut 1 FULL COIL off and that did the trick. Painted the exposed metal red to prevent any damage and put back in. I wanted the dumped look so i was okay with cutting a coli. I understand it affects the dynamics of the spring but in this case i know many people who cut their vmaxx (audi-vw) and no issues. There was massive rubbing but i knew it was bc i needed an alignment. Day4 Alignment and pictures. The alignment did the trick. We did not add any extra negative camber to make anything fit. Its all done to BMW Spec and fits great with no rubbing. okay if there are any other questions just pm me or ask in here. http://www.v-maxx.co.uk/viewproduct.asp?id=244&m2=228 http://www.stratmosphere.com/index.htm Call Pete at Strat 1.866.533.1777 Here are pics of car after its done http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=423843 and for some during install

also tried to find spring rate but had no luck. Only thing you can go off of is that they fell stiffer than H&R sport! But for DD you cant go wrong!

Glad to hear that it is complete! Interesting about the rears, the lowest the perch would go was still higher than H&R sport? Was it like stock ZSP height? If the lowest they will go is still higher than H&R sport, then Vmaxx definitely needs to fix that, seeing how every other coilover for the e9x has no problem going so low that thE car constantly scrapes.
