Kensington Liquid aux for the I phone 4
http://images.acco.com/KENSINGTON/K3...28US-18213.jpg
Ive just taken a chance on one of these from a e-bay for just under £20,as I want to charge and play my Iphone.Plugs straight into the cigarette lighter socket. One cable plugs into the charge point on the IP4,the other into the aux socket. Comes with a small bluetooth remote control that I have attached around my gear select using the holder,or you can attach it to the steering wheel/attach to the dash/whatever. This does not connect to the phone via bluetooth, but the attachment that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. When the car is turned off,it all just shuts down. Kensington also sell a "deluxe" version that comes with a cradle. However,I just wanted one without,to hide my IP in the arm rest next to the aux socket. I am aware that these units have been discussed before, but I thought I'd give my verdict as I'm really impressed! This is |

I've just bought one of these from Ebay myself and I'm very impressed. It's perfect for my E90 as everything is contained in the armrest and it keeps things neat and tidy (just how I like them!). The fixing for the wheel mounted controller is only just big enough to fit around the M Sport steering wheel though.

I have used one for 2 years now.
I can recommend a cradle - I screwed my Brodit one to the (removable, easily replaceable) phone cradle under the armrest. This makes it dead easy to insert the iphone with one hand without looking - like an OEM proper cradle install.

i bought the bluetooth one a while ago to work with my android phone - was going to write a review up before but got lazy
anyway the bluetooth one is a very simple bit of kit just one wire going into the aux. auto connects when the car starts and ive stuck the little remote behind the steering wheel so that the buttons are positioned just underneath where my fingers rest when holding the steering. pics: |

Having read reviews online some people say the Bluetooth connection with the steering wheel remote is in the Kensington kit itself, others say its via your Bluetooth connection on your phone. As I want to use this on my 6th gen Nano that has no Bluetooth capability, it's really important that it's the former! Can anyone tell me for sure? Thanks.

I leave everything plugged into the arm rest-so unit plugged into cigarette lighter and aux socket.
-the remote goes into 'sleep' mode. When I plug in my IP4 and select aux on the idrive, the remote wakes and I just press play-or just select what album via phone/iPod and control via remote. You obviously cannot select different albums from the remote-it's not that good! Am I right in thinking that's what your asking? |

I've had the non-bluetooth version for a few years now and it works perfectly with my Gen 1 iPod and iPhone 4. Superb bit of kit, just keep some CR2016 batteries handy for the remote!
This device may not be available any more to buy new. The original post is over a year old. Last edited by Statler; 04-16-2012 at 08:30 AM.. |
