How on EARTH could they allow that odd gap in the hood???

Isn't it absolutely unbelievable that the hood doesn't close flush with the front grille, but rather, closes randomly a few inches away from it??? You see this random gap line in every photo!

To be honest, I didn't really notice it at first, but once someone pointed it out, I see it everywhere... talk ruining a design... Seems like SUCH an amateur mistake...

It's due to pedestrian safety standards, all the new cars have it, the z4 and current 5 series have it already

Ah yes, saw that in the other thread now... sorry.

But couldn't they at least decrease the gap?

Maybe that is just too much to ask...
