E92 Speaker upgrade question...

For those of you with Logic7 who have upgraded from there, are most of you leaving the rears stock or just deleting them all together. I am talking with Ken at Musicar about his stage 2 upgrade and I can't decide if I want to keep the rear speakers or not. Is the sound going to be off without them? Thanks for your input guys.

I think we are going with the Helix DSP. Upgrading to Morel upfront and Jehnert under the seat. So I am just wondering if the rears are even needed. Or if I would be ok incorporating rear speakers, but just leave them stock.

If I'm not mistaken, the level 2 from Musicar uses Zapco DSP amps, which will give you a really nice sound stage from the fronts.

If you're not using Logic 7 processing (MS-8) then I would say disconnect the rears.

How are you addressing the Morel fitment issue in your E92? I'm looking to upgrade my 09 in a few weeks, but figure on going with the HAT L4SE carbons.

I have a plan in place, but have not started buying gear yet. I'll start a thread when I have everything ready to go.

Musicar has some adapters I believe.

I don't think L4SEs will fit with the standard adapters due to depth issues. It would be difficult to fit L4SEs in an E90 using the standard adapter plate. I've been looking at trying them for awhile but was never convinced that they would fit in the door.

I left my rears stock but I have a hi-fi system not L7. Even with my rears connected, I fade them so I can't even hear them in the front seats. They are there strictly for rear seat passengers. They do not contribute to the soundstage at all.

I'n fact, I'm planning to remove my hi-fi amp temporarily (my hi-fi only runs the rear speakers in my current install) to do some modifications to the mounting bracket so we'll see if I even noticed they're gone.

Let me know if you notice. That was kind of what I was worried about, noticing if they weren't there. I don't have a lot a passengers in the rear seats that often, but when I do, will it sound like crap to them? Should I even care? LOL

I will be getting the Morel Dotech Ovation 4s with the adapters from Musicar. I am assuming they wouldn't sell them to me if they didn't fit.

It may be a month or two. I am having a hard time deciding between new Forgestar's and coilovers or upgrading the sound. Just ordered meth kit, so I am leaning towards suspension upgrade i think.

My post was referring to the other poster wanting to install Hybrid L4SEs in his E92. I know the Dotech's will fit just fine.

The regular L4SE will not fit, but the carbon is a shallow mount version that will fit the E92. It is what Musicar offers in their level 3 kit for E92&3.

Interesting. I've heard talk about it but never knew it was actually released. There is virtually no info on it on the Hybrid website except for a quick mention that such a product is available. I'm curious to see how different it is from the standard SE series product since Hybrid has always pushed the greatness of paper cones and now this carbon series goes away from that.

Scott has commented that the L4SE carbon's are quite a different product from the regular L4SE. Most notably, the carbon are NOT a wideband driver. They must be paired with a tweeter, but they were designed with our type of vehicle in mind.

Ken has installed them here

I've seen your adapters in pics on here. Very nice work. Do you also make an adapter of the type required to fit a Dotech or Hybrid Ovation in the E92?
