I got a nasty one on my hood, pretty much got to the metal....anyone have any suggestion to patch it up? Anyone here ever used that Drcolorchip product, does it work as advertised?

What color is your car? Just get some touch up paint, slowly and carefully "fill" the chip up with paint. This may take several or more coats. Once the chip is filled, you can then wet sand the touched up area back down so that is flat with the hood's paint. Finished off with some polish, and off you go. Depending on the color of your car, you might start filling the chip with colored paint, and finish off with clear. Some metallics have alot of mica that floats to the top and the color will be affected when wetsanding.

White should be easy. You can either just use the Alpine White touch up or white topped with clear. Autozone sells the sandpaper (1500-3000 grit).
If you're uncomfortable with sanding the paint on your car, you might want to find a detailer or talk to your dealer. Your dealer most likely has a mobile paint repair guy that could handle it. |
