Just bought two new fr tires but now 1 rear is damaged, replace one or both
Bad luck I guess but my staggered setup on my E92 (265/30R19s on the rear and 230/35R19 on the front) means I cannot rotate so for the past couple of tires purchases I have had to buy either only the front or rears since the rears wear out so much quicker. Last week I replaced the fronts only since one of my rears had about 14,000 miles and the other 17,000 miles (because one was damaged and replaced about 4 months after i purchased them - deja vu). So rears were okay but fronts needed replacement badly. Got the 4-wheel alignment too. Yesterday I found a big nail in the sidewall of the rear that only had 14,000 miles on it. A tire store confirmed that because it is in the sidewall it will have to be replaced. I am running Goodyear Assymetrics (had to buy Goodyear Assymetrics 2 for the fronts since the first series was discontinued).
These are fairly expense at around $260 online, so do you guys think I should bite the bullet and by both of each, even though I think the other rear has some life left? I just wonder if I will be taking a performance hit keeping 3 new tires with the one with 17,000 miles (see pic below)?

Okay, thanks guys. I did decide to go that route. Just a little sticker shock after buying the fronts 2 weeks ago. At least I am totally reset now.
Funny thing is, the nail actually fell out on its own yesterday afternoon and I drove it another 30 miles home with no TPS sensors going off and the tire still looked to maintain its pressure (didn't measure it though looked normal). Go out today and totally flat. Put air in it and air immediately goes out. The puncture is now at the bottom of my tire and I can see an actually small hole in my concrete floor lined up with the tire puncture. I'm wondering if it had catastrophic failure last night and blew out leaving this tiny hole in my concrete. Weird nonetheless....
