Apex Arc-8 for street?
I'm looking for new rims to get but I'm still undecided if I'd like to upgrade from 18" to 19". I'm interested in the Apex Arc-8 (the more concave ones) but I'm not totally sure how they would be for a daily street wheel. I will be tracking once in a while but not so much. The reason I'm looking at the Apex is for their light weight and also because they are cheap. The car is leased so I don't want to drop too much money on rims. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? Thanks in advance!

Apex
Been wanting Apex for my DD, was going for Arc-8 but the EC-7's are worth the wait, probaply has 2-4 extra pounds but still lighter and stronger than a gravit or low pressure cast. They are roll/spun whatever forged, so if these can run for hours on track under intense heat on track, I think a few pulls on the highway wont hurt.

They work great on a street driven car! Only negative is if you use tmps (which I do) the valve stem sticks out almost to the outer edge of the wheel. The outer lip is pretty shallow on these wheels. Also, no concavity for the fronts 18x8.5.
As others mentioned, I'd wait for the EC7's. I think 9" wide fronts and 10" wide rears will fit the E90's allowing for a 255F/275R tire setup which would be awesome..

I personally don't have them but they seem to be highly recommended on here for there like weight and low cost.
If I was looking for a cheaper alternative to super light forged wheels I would deff pick these up. Love the concave also. |

Also Arc-8 concave starts from 9.5 wide and stays the same even with wider 10 and 10.5 inch wheels.
There is a difference about arc8 concave and Ec7 concave. Arc8 spokes start to descend to center right from the outer edge from wheel. Ec7 spokes go straight towards middle and then start to "sink" to center. I like arc8 concave better. Last edited by MonacoBlueE90; 05-08-2012 at 06:13 AM.. |

I agree, but that's the only solution if you don't wanna rub. Gotta stretch it a little. Unless you prefer rolling and pulling your fenders.
My front fenders were untouched and no rubbing at all. Rears were moderately rolled and no rubbing. On my new LCI, rears rubbed A LOT, so I had to size it down to 245 from 265, so I slight stretch there as well. No rubbing, but my car is on stock springs. |

If you are going for the spacers sure a 9.5 will work up front with a 235 ish less tire.
For a street use car the lugs being exposed would give a thief the opportunity to get creative on the ARC-8 If you go for it, please share some pics and your experince getting the right fit, im definitely going Apex this summer.

From a strength perspective, wouldn't the concave arc-8 17's benefit from tires with bigger side walls? Thinking about them for a square setup, given their weight advantage.

That plus a continental DWS, you are looking at 36lb setup. Was thinking about those too.
