installed: macht schnell studs + project kics R26

I recently did the stud conversion on my e92 335 and took some pics of the process, i know there are a couple other guides on this process already but here it is again.

1) the new lugs and studs being used

2) the old factory lugs

3) crack the lugs loose before raising the car to prevent the fronts from spinning.

4) once you have the wheel removed, time to install the new studs.... i applied blue loctite to the studs and snugged them down hand tight

5) then torque all the studs down to the hub at 30 ft lbs (I've read variations of 16, 30, and 50 ft lbs)

6) admire how your spacers will no longer spin around while you try to put your wheel on

7) the black chrome project kids r26, the r40 are more common but i kind of like the shorter lug style

8) put on the wheels and snug down the lugs, lower the car and torque the lugs to 90 ft lbs. i let the car sit for 24 hrs to let the loctite cure properly.

Nice write up! I think that many euro cars should invest in this. I hated that my spacer would keep spinning when I put my wheel on. Especially the front where the rotor spins as well.

Not bashing, just curious ....wouldn't it be safer to use the red loctite?

Also curious what the total cost was?

i initially thought about using the red loctite as well but i was advised by EAS to use the blue one. i believe the blue can hold just fine up till 110 ft lbs where as the red loctite is supposed to be permanent and you need to heat it up slightly with a propane torch to get it off.

the total cost of the studs and lug nuts was about $400, project kics lugs are kind of pricey

yea the spinning rotor + spacer + wheel was the biggest pain when you're holding up the wheel to the hub with one hand and trying to get the lugs in... much easier now!
