Which Swiss-Italian Pass to Drive?
Car is in production and we leave 2 weeks from today. Super excited!!
From those who have done it could use a little insight. I am driving from St Moritz, Swiss to Lake Como. I really want to drive a great mountain pass and was thinking Stelvio. I may still choose Stelvio but its an 1 1/2 (minimum) in the wrong direction. I am thinking there must be a good choice or two closer to Stelvio. Any help would really be great! thanks a lot in advance...

Did my own homework. Looks like the San Bernadino Pass is a great option. Anyone drive it?

I am listening to the Smoking Tire podcast (#86) and Matt was talking about his trip a week or two ago in Switzerland. He said the Stelvio was a bit overrated because there was a lot of tourists and you had to go really slow. But, he said his favorite passes were the Susten Pass and the Fluela Pass.
Here's a link to the podcast: http://www.thesmokingtire.com/2013/p...rs-dignorance/ It's all pretty good, but he mentions this info around 36 minutes in. |
