Thoughts on this 2013 328i xDrive please help?

Please help give me your thoughts on this deal. 2013 Estoril Blue, M-Sport Line, Cold Weather Package, Lighting Package, Premium Package, Technology Package, Rear-View Camera, Park Distance Control, and has an MSRP of $ 53,375. Invoice is $49,625 according to dealer. I got $49,575 from BMWconfig.

I know about the $2k build out incentive but dealer price is $48,625 plus $299 dealer handling with the build out credit.

Car has 400 miles and has clear bra and tint.

What do you think I should offer by paying cash?

I have the UDE credit as well. Does the $500 loyalty credit require BMW financing?

You should be able to get 2013/2014 at $200-$300 over invoice (before any $2k incentive is applied on MY13), but I guess since you are buying it at cash, there may not be a cut for the dealership on financing or leasing.

Remember this is a 2013. I would shoot for $1600-1800 below invoice (after incentives are applied), BUT for a NEW car.

No idea how loyalty works in buying, you would hope it applied since BMW gets your cash right away.

Now, questions to ask:
  • Any explanation on 400 miles?
  • When was the car out on the road and registered?
  • How much longer do you have with factory warranty? 3 years? 3.5 years?
(most likely not 4 years since the day you buy it. It may have been previously registered with DMV)

A word of humble advice:

Since you are buying, why not custom order it? Or run a nationwide locate and get the car you want which is NEW. It is worth the wait.

I would be so worried about how those first 400 miles were driven, probably thrashed a little during test drives with no concern to the braking period.

Sounds like a demo/test drive car to me.

The car has not been registered and considered new so I would have the full warranty. The 400 miles came from the GM driving it as a demo from what I'm told.

I looked into doing a custom order on 2014 but obviously the build out incentives wouldn't apply which I'm interested in taking advantage of. The break in period does concern me now that you bring it up. So right now, the deal is about $48,925 which is roughly $700 under invoice. So about a $900-1,100 difference from your suggestion.

That is far from being a good deal to be honest. And they are admitting it is a demo car driven by the GM or (maybe a CA's assistant at some point of time). Is the GM an old man?

Being a demo car, they should have some incentive in selling it for a great price. I would walk away if they did not give me a cracking deal on a demo. But that is just me.

Might be worth looking at a similar car, NEW elsewhere in the country, getting a better deal and flying in and driving back or having it shipped. Peace of mind and no mods unless you really want those extra installs.

For a lease car, one could care less, but I guess it is a personal decision.

I guess you may want to wait for other forum members to chime in as well. I am not an expert and my opinion is clearly my own.

^ agree with above poster. I was looking into a similar built car and was able to instantly get 5k off msrp without any incentives. + the incentives you have you should be shooting for 8.5k+ off msrp on a demo at the min.

You need to finance to get the Loyalty Cash. Personally, I wouldn't consider a car with 400 miles on it a demo. Depending where the GM lived, he could have just driven it home for a week and its possible but I wouldn't expect a GM to thrash that car

The dealer just emailed me and said they would sell at invoice minus any incentives I qualify for. MSRP is $53,375 and Invoice is $49,575. They are about an hour away. What do yall think a good price to offer would be?

I will go to a local dealer for a similar car, only it is a 2013 335i xdriver. Dealer listed MSRP of $60xxx. I configured a similar car on trucar.com that has MSRP $60,625, invoice $56,305

I have the $1000 UDE and dealer promised another $500 to sweeten the UDE (I believe this is not the $500 loyalty cash). with the current build-out cash and loyalty cash. Do you guys think asking for $9000 off MSRP is too much or too less?

Didn't mean to hijack this thread, but I can't start a new thread yet.

You can go to BMWconfig.com to get invoice. The consensus is that for 2013, it should be at invoice or less before any incentives from BMW for a new car. The only difference here is, I'm dealing with a interesting situation with mine.

I have driven a few demo 3 series before ordering my 428 and let me tell you I wasn't gentle with any of them. BMW advise you not to rev above 4500 rpm in the first 1500 miles and I certainly wouldn't with my own car but when I am test driving a demo, I sure will and in fact I did.

You are still paying 40+ thousand dollars for this car, I think you should get a product that wouldn't make you think twice in any way...

Not good enough.

You get a car with 5-10 miles on the clock, brand new and custom order for that price.
They want to sell the car with 400+ miles on it with at invoice price?

See what the above poster 'boulderado' said.

Again, are you buying or leasing?

Could you find out where that $500 is coming from? Are they doing this to maybe move the 2013 inventory? Clearly they cannot squeeze more incentives which BMWNA does not offer. BMWNA has strict guidelines on how and which incentive is applied.

OP, should get a better deal (another $1000 or so off at least), for a car with a few hundred miles on it.

Is that a lease or purchase, what about other numbers? Purchase price is not everything. Generally speaking on a purchase price along, for MY13 you should be looking at least $1k under invoice, before any incentives or rebates!

Demo issue has been discussed a number of times here, demo is a used car, only dealers can designate fancy word "demo" to a used car, BMW warranty started at 0 miles. As, bavarianboar mentioned, you have to make additional considerations: lease vs purchase, break-in vs abuse, value for new vs used, etc. Everything (in cars) has its price, but you need to have a good handle what you have available in front of you vs what you want

I will ask the dealer when I get a chance.
