Lease return. How many additional miles you got away with @no charge?

My E90 lease is coming up in about 25 days and F30 is on a ship hopefully ready to be picked up Mid-Oct.

I have 36K miles lease allowance and I am currently at 36,450. I don't plan to make long trips but estimating another 400 miles or so before I end up returning the car. Dealer is about 50 miles away and I drive 20 miles a day, round trip for work.

Additional miles is $0.20 /mile but I think we can still buy at $0.17 /mile before lease return (someone said BMWFS can do that even a couple of days before you return the car). Either way I have no problem spending some $150 (that is all part of lease agreement). Just wondering how lenient they have been with others.

When you switched to another lease - How many extra miles did you have on your car, and you were not charged for them?

I think you're doing just fine!
It largely depends on your dealer, most dealers would overlook such a small delta. I'd not be worried if I were you, the worst case 1200 x 20c = $240, you may have bigger issues to deal with (hopefully not! ). Also, you may be able to negotiate it down as well. If you have a good relationship with your CA/manager give them a call.

I believe BMWFS says that you can pre-pay for miles no later than 120 days prior to lease termination.

Looking forward to getting our cars from the ship

Yeah, that's what I heard as well.

My guess is that they will definitely overlook them since you are picking up a new car and it's less than 1k miles. But, you never know...

FWIW, when I turned in my lease last month my two rear tires were BALD (and non-RFTs). My CA knew about them ('cause I asked him about replacement costs) but miraculously, my final bill was $0.00.

if you have a good relationship with the dealer....and since you're going into another BMW, you might be able to get away with it....or pay a reduced amount.

if you're really paranoid, you can pre-purchase the miles at a cheaper amount
