Any reason why I shouldn't buy these? (Angel Eyes)

I'm thinking of ordering these Angel Eye bulbs for my LCI E91 (with Halogens):

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2909704357...84.m1423.l2649

Anyone tried these or have any suggestions before I go for it?

Thanks

Id ve interested to see the outcome. Iv akways thought that would be the best way. As the standard halogen seem yo give a more solid light output compared to most of the anget eye designs out there.

H8 is for those cars which comes with xenons.
You will require
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2709397253...84.m1438.l2649

Search for 20W each bulb as these are 10W each.

PS: The LEDs you linked are poor as 24W each is not going to be enough for the cars with xenons to match. There are 40W each out. Again, some companies are listing their H8 as 40W and they are not as bright as real 40W H8.

Thanks for the info makkan, that's a good reason to not buy them if they won't actually work! Haha!

Those ones you linked look good and are a lot cheaper so that suits me, although the small print in the middle of the listing says "Your vehicle must have stock Xenon headlights for the LED angel eye kit to work and your car needs to have the yellow rings present to start with". Are they definitely the right ones for my car?

Thanks

Sorry, they might be pre-lci xenon version.
Search on ebay and the one I am talking about are similar in shape but for lci halogen headlights.
Best one are 20W each as 10w each are not simply good enough.

For the benefit of anyone thinking of buy the angel eyes on your link above, don't bother, I bought some for my E93 325i and have given up trying to even get them in, there is just not enough room to manoeuvre them to get them in..!!

The trouble I had with the ones I bought (not the same as those linked, but they all share the same fundamental issue, IMO), is that the machined aluminium end cap doesn't lock into the light housing securely like the OEM bulb holder does.

They do fit in (eventually), but there is no positive "click" as it should lock into place. They just twist in....and to me at least...feels like they could just as easily vibrate and twist out.

Another question i've asked sellers before is why the need for such a massive heat sink on the LED ones? If they chuck off that much heat, I personally don't really want them fitted into a plastic light housing thanks!

Most of those which are advertised as 80w are not 80w.
Good luck though.

I went for a punt and bought them.

Easy to fit. Loads of room between the back the LED unit and the circular cover to put the wires and 2 electronic box thingies. Took 5 mins each side. I make life easier by removing the air filter cover and paper filter to give more room for my big hands at the back of the RH light. Seem OK to me.

Here is the BEFORE

These are much more yellow in reality than they appear here.

and AFTER

The brightness and colour are a true likeness.

Hope they last longer than my last attempt at LED replacements for the H8 bulbs (different LED units). I got a full refund as both failed after a few months.

Another thing. The H8 bulbs have 3 tabs which lock them in - these are offset and of different sizes. The LEDs will not seat properly unless you line up the different tabs with their respective slots. So take note of the position of the H8 when it pops out. RH H8 rotates anti-clockwise to remove when looking from the rear of the car and the LH H8 rotates clockwise when viewing from the rear of the car. Took me a while to realise that they rotated in different directions the first time I did this.

Looks pretty good. Will be cool to see what it looks like in varying weather conditions. I've just ordered a pair of weisslicht LED from bimmian. Should arrive next week and will post contrasting results.

Unless you completely re-engineer the light unit, it will always be like that because the outer ring is powered by the same bulb that lights the inner ring, via a fibre optic cable...
