I called Dinan today about the shockware and they directed me to call the dealer to install. Called BMW SF and the Dinan guy was at lunch and would call me back in 45 minutes. No call back...as expected. You have to beg to give people money to work.

Talked to the Dinan dealer (bmwsf) and they said the tune is $205 and the labor is $220. Forget that. The labor costing more than the tune...I will try another Dinan dealer.

wow, that's crazy. if you have any rapport or relationship with the dealer most i contacted would do for free. highest estimate over phone was half hour of labor. smart to shop around and have a relationship of some kind with a dinan dealer.

Yeah, even the sales rep thought that was way too much...but all he can do is punch it in the computer and it gives 1 hr of labor. He also said they have barely sold any of those. He didn't even know what it was when I first called him--we know more than Dinan reps at bmw dealers.

that's absolutely right. at my dinan dealer i had to guide them to half hour of labor because so and so said that and online on the dinan site it says half hour so you can't charge me more than that but then come to find out after speaking to manager they would do it for free since i bought car there.

This is the dealer where I bought the car. I hardly think they will do it for free...they were kind of pissed at how low of a price I was able to get the car for. I used the force and my super negotiating skills. I will call a place in mountain view later..but I wonder in Dinan does that flash. I am about an hour away from them.

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. no harm in guiding the conversation to the result you want. service department has little to do with sales department. there is likely no note in your profile that says "this guy already got an awesome deal on his car don't cut him any more breaks". no harm in trying, right?

You're in MD? Mind sharing which dealers offered free labor on the Shockware?

According to Dinan, that is all the time required to install.

How inflated is BMWSF Hourly labor rate?

yes sir. bmw of silver spring did it for free. i actually bought the car from bmw of rockville but again some rapport and nudging towards the intended desired result helps shape the conversation. also leveraging anything possible to make them think they "owe you one" subtly thrown into the conversation nearly guarantees the effort successful. basic social engineering stuff

I've called two Indy shops now and got prices of 90$ and $85 for the install. Getting better.

I just got back from getting shock ware installed--went to Carbaughn--the Steve Dinan shop in Mountain view. Nice shop and people working there and the whole thing took about 20 minutes.
Installed for a total of $305. It's raining here so not much feedback other than the steering in comfort is a little tighter and it is less floaty. Drove in slow traffic in sport and noticed it is firmer as far as suspension.

Anyone here have issues with the install? Apparently mine is one of the very few cars that simply do not take to the shockware install. Has track package and MPPSK, wonder if that matters.

Tried last year and my car threw a chassis stabilization code, so it wouldnt take. Had to reinstall BMW software to essentially "reset" everything.

Car was completely stock
