Just for the heck of it, give Dinan a call directly, and give them the last 7 digits of your VIN. They can confirm right away whether you're eligible or not.

My dealer was trying to visually confirm whether the car had EDC (they never ran the VIN like they should have), but their Dinan guy didn't realize the F30 dampers are built differently than other models with EDC.

It would scare the crap out of me if my dealer didn't even know how to find out if I had EDC. Pretty sad, should take a tech literally 30 seconds.

Hopefully those of you who were delayed by your dealers still got the sale pricing.

Hell, its not even called EDC anymore, its M Adaptive Suspension.

As long as you arent messing with the VDM module and you can FDL code other parts of the vehicle without hurting the shockware flash.
If the another dealer decides to do a software update to the vehicle with shockware, would I need to go back to the dinan dealer to get it reflashed? My car hasn't been updated since 2013 (found out today) and the tech told me I have to update it for the valvetronic stuff as I just got mine replaced. Apparently the software updates everything in the car, but I'm not sure if the VDM will get the shockware overwritten.

If its a full reprogramming (the one that takes a half a day of updating to accomplish) then every module is flashed back to stock and the car would need to be taken back to a Dinan dealer to have the Shockware reloaded. If the dealer is just doing an update to a specific module or only the engine related stuff then you wouldn't need to worry. That said MOST dealerships opt to go for the full re-programming as it eliminates all loose variables and troubleshooting is basically avoided.

In case it does get lost, some dinan dealers will reflash for free while others will charge labor (Dinan_Engineering can correct me if I'm wrong)

For anyone with EDC, this is a much needed flash unless you like the floaty feel... and it is different than the LCI programming.

If the car is still under the 4yr/50k then the reflash (labor) is covered by Dinan. Outside of that the labor charge, or not, would be up to the dealer themselves. If the factory update/reflash is performed at a Dinan dealer though the reflash would be part of the update with no additional time/charge. You would just have to remind the dealer at time of check-in that the flash is there so they notate it on the paperwork for the techs.

Yes. It's been frustrating for what appears to be a simple software upload. The local DINAN dealer is an independent shop (not BMW dealer) and he was basing the lack of EDC on the fact the computer used to upload the DINAN software said the VIN was not eligible. He said the top of the shocks should have wiring. In addition to the option code for Adaptive Suspension, I see sensors/wiring connected to the shock body.

I've left a vm for DINAN sales asking for VIN check and appt at one of their shops but no call back yet. Will call them again on Monday but will probably move on if no response... the goal was to reduce the comfort mode rear bouncing but only have so much time and patience to chase vendors for mods.

I just had shockware loaded onto my f31. I would recommend it to anyone with adaptive suspension and especially anyone on the fence about doing it. I was hesitant to have it installed because I didn't mind the comfort setting and wanted it smooth for long road trips.

The shockware is incredible and feels great. The part of it I like the most is the feeling of the steering after installing shockware. The original BMW comfort setting had very light steering while sport what very heavy. The steering feel with shockware is heavier than bmw comfort but doesn't feel extra heavy like the original sport setting. To me the steering feel is the biggest improvement.

My dealer only charged me for .5 hours of worked like is stated on dinans websites.

So if I decide to upgrade to the m performance brakes, and they have to code it in, it shouldn't erase the shockware correct?

Or same website.

As has been noted in other threads, Dinan support and customer service isn’t what it once was.

Yeah..I'm going to call them next week..if they say 205 I'll do it otherwise I'll wait. Just silly shit. Maybe I'll screen shot the lower price and see what they say. It seems worth it.
