I assume my current flash will be saved if I want to go back for whatever reason?

Also, I thought burble intensity adjustments and cold start on/off was made available in the version 3 release of the OTS maps but I don't see it once I move an OTS map tp my maps? Maybe it's still yet to be released.

Tremendous amount of information here. Took me hours to read through all the pages. I have a F10 520 and it seems there is not that much information about the n20 bm3.
I did have my DME unlocked last week and waiting for the reseller to get a map prepared for me. Hopefully I get my account soon and so I can start exploring the power of bm3. I can finally get rid of the JB4.... |

I did get a JB4 Meth kit, but not yet connected to the JB4. I understand it is basically a kit from Coolingmist.
Do you think I should keep the JB4 for the meth, or get a separate controller for it? I doubt we need/can support extra boost for the 20i engine? |

Is anyone else having horrible battery drain issues with the iOS app? Even having the phone plugged in it is accounting for more than 50% of my battery usage. Not even constantly running Apple maps or google maps does this.

PWG guys - Just want to share my experience with the newest map. Just loaded the OTS V3 93 oct map yesterday. It's significantly better then some of the earlier maps I've ran (I was probably one of the original crew BM3 PWG guys.) Dzenno stated they modified some new tables and were able to tweak some parameters on these newer maps and I am definitely impressed by it for an OTS map and 0 tweaks. Everyday driving is even smoother (which I was already impressed by) and very similar to stock feeling (no inconsistent boost fluctuations like JB4 lol) part throttle and full throttle.
Running Full bolt ons and just straight 93 octane at this point (would like to try some e mixtures moving forward) 2nd gear 40 rolls put you back in your seat as I fight with traction a bit cause the torque hits so hard... perfect boost season here in the northeast proTUNING Freaks Dzenno/Halim .... I'm ready to test some PWG burbles out for ya Also, do you plan to push an e30 map for us PWG guys??? I saw EWG have one

PWG, Pure Stg2 and 93AKI - flat 17psi. This is the absolute maximum possible on stock fuel system and 93 I'd say. Car misfired on the second run so I'd call this a lucky one

Should be easy enough to sell you a cable and PTF maps. Not BM3 unfortunately. If you know the difference.

Keep in mind, OBD unlock (i.e. port flashing without pulling the DME to do a full read on bench first) will never restore the car 100% the way it was pre-tuning today and that applies to all flash tools today. Software/calibration/coding data can be flashed back to stock but historical data on flash counters, flash date etc cannot, at least not yet. Some tuners also go further to update the car to some specific version so they can get you tuned easier which also causes a change to software IDs on the car which causes further differences at diag time at a dealer. None of this matters if you just want a tune and don't care to be bothered with these details There's really no way of completely being invisible to dealers with the tunes but at least with a bench read you can be fully invisible at least to diagnostic tools when they're plugged in as the DME will read exactly how it did just before you got a tune loaded on it. The only visible trace at that point will be the silicone seal on the DME lid but they need to physically look at the DME, pull it for that which not everyone is up for if you're simply returning the car unless there's a good reason for that. Unfortunate truth is BMW may also close the backdoor everyone takes advantage of for OBD unlock in a future BMW software update like they've done in the past on earlier models. If they do that it may set everyone back to getting bench read/unlocked yet again, but until then.. We'll run with both options available to end users so you can choose your way of getting it done but just because OBD unlock is an option, knowing what you gain/lose getting tuned that way we feel is something people should be able to know and make a decision on. Blunt honest Thursdays, no sugar coating |

^ Nice post.
It's certainly going to be interesting to see how this all pans out. With that said, I feel the concern about being invisible to the dealers will begin to matter less as the F-series vehicles' warranties expire. Similarly, given that people don't constantly have their cars updated by the dealerships, I don't expect people will lose the OBD unlock all that easily, especially if yours is already unlocked. These are valid concerns that customers should be aware of, though, and something that isn't often mentioned to those looking into OBD unlocks. Question: If one was worried about leaving a trace after doing an OBD unlock, is it possible to bench flash their DME afterwards then flash back to stock at that point in order to reset the flash counter, flash data, etc? |

Once you OBD unlock forget about restoring back fully to where the DME was, at least as of today's obd flash capabilities. What may be possible down the road time will tell, maybe nothing maybe everything Today, you need your full DME bench read, not someone else's read to restore your historical data back the way it was on your DME. You can't physically read or write all of the DME data through OBD, today. |

Thats a good question! I was sent an email with a similar above response when I asked about a cable and ECU unblock in case. Worse comes to worse I told them if I have to get my DME reset after doing a flash with cable, then I will consider taking it off the manifold and getting it unlocked or reflashed by them and they emailed back and said that should be no issue. Not sure if this answers your question.
