I certainly would because the design of the PS2 while it boasts the most power now for any BMW car especially N55, but it's a compromised unit and in all seriousness you need to consider the failure rate.
While some have had zero issues I've seen quite a few fail especially at the turbofold interior welds. It's just CNC'd to max and the walls become too thin. And you can never ever run a converter again even a Hiflo cat produces too much heat and melts the back end of the turbo, not that anyone get PS2 to run cats but I don't like the smell. PURE makes awesome stuff for sure but there's a reason I personally stuck with their stage 1 unit and no issues . But this new stage 3 let's hope that it's legit and that we can see some great results.

Pretty damn impressive with stock intercooler, intake, and exhaust. Those EFR series Borg Warner turbos are no joke either. I can't imagine an 8374 on a 335!

That's very interesting. I'm at a crossroads with my EWG N55 as to whether I play it safe and keep it as is (JB4, DP, E30) or go down the PS2 / fuel upgrade / IC route. Planning on keeping my car for probably another 3 years before changing (just turned 3yrs old), so the weighing up of reliability risks vs the itch for more power is proving difficult!
Seems like people haven't had any reliability problems with PS2 levels of power based on that? The 8AT also seems to be holding up, which is another big area of concern for me as I imagine that would be costly should anything go bang. |

I would be too scared to try a turbo for a new company on the market ... If anything goes wrong, it will cost thousands of dollars in labor to fix it

Im saying if it was my car because of labor time to fix anything i would rather pay the extra cost and get a proven solution. That being said, waiting for some of you guys to try and let us know how it goes.

Its a thick cast manifold with a borgwarner EFR turbo. (i believe our factory unit is a BW turbo). It pretty much has to make more power for the same psi as a hybrid.
Only risk I see is the auxiliary equipment. Its pretty much plug, play, tune. I bet you could run the same BMS or other tune as with the PS2 and make a few small changes. Only so much you can ask from the stock turbofold. I am amazed we have done so much with it already. I would expect a min 50hp pick up with the same boost and all things equal. For max horsepower you want a boost to PTBP ratio as close to 1:1 as possible. I would be willing to bet a maxed out PS2 is closer to 1:4. |
