Park Button Accident?
Anyone hit the Park button by mistake while driving at a decent speed?
I have bumped it a few times and thought "whoa that was close!", almost pushed it completely. I have pressed it pre maturely while parking and it engages and slams into park. Not neat. I would assume it is smart enough not to allow at speed.? |

Don't think it would matter what the answer is. Sounds like your subconscious won't be happy till you actually do it.....soooooooo....get after it

I am actually concerned that it wouldn't do what it suppose to. Once I opened the door while rolling into the garage and instead of it slamming into park it just made a horrible noise, like it tried to go in park but was slipping a clutch in the transmission. Learned about that feature quickly!

I'm assuming there must be some speed-related cutoff above which the park button doesn't activate. I know a very low speeds - literally not even measurable on the speedo - that pressing the park button will put the transmission into park (I assume here we are talking about the 8-speed auto transmission) and bring the car to a very sudden halt.
Of course haven't been game enough to find out what this speed cutoff is..... Tony |
