Do you bring your dog in your F3X?
Hey all,
We've got a Mini Schnauzer and I want to bring her in my F32, but I'm a little worried her nails will scratch the leather and centre console. When we take my wife's XC40, the dog goes in a carrier and we put it in the backseat. But I'm afraid it won't be as straightforward in my coupe. Just wondering how you accommodate your four legged friend on trips around town. Let me know! |

I have a "hammock" style cover that connects to the rear headrests and front headrests. It not only protects the interior, but keeps my goldendoodle (about 60lbs) from falling into the footwell of the rear seats. I can also put a decent size dog bed on top for her for longer trips. I have a F36 though which has rear doors which makes it easy to get her in and out of. Not sure if that would work for a coupe. It could still be useful by just attaching it to the rear headrests and draping over the seats and down to the floor.
You can get them from amazon or a local pet store or even a homegoods/marshalls/tj maxx/christmas tree shop/etc. I can snap some pics and send if you want.

My 80lb black lab rides exclusively in the Odyssey. I do have a protective seat cover for the back seat of my BMW that I got for my E90 in case of emergencies. It works pretty well so long as you secure it. Search "Car Seat Cover for Back Seat" on Amazon.

I have an F33 and also a Mini Schnauzer and she goes with us in the car all the time. The convertible has the rear wind deflector which the dog easily fits under and I purchased a seat protector from Weathertech that has a non skid type surface. She likes to go with us and she lays down in the sun and sleeps.

I have a pom and she just sleeps in the back seat on every journey.
No protector at all but she has a round bed on on one of the seats if she chooses to use it. Been a year, and her nails hasn't caused at damage from what i can see- even when she is on the clambering on the center console . Generally she is pretty tame, so she hasn't randomly started digging for no apparent reason. Ps. If you ever condition your leather seats with Meguiars or similar stuff, it gets quite slippery for dogs when they stand up whilst on the move. |

Absolutely! But Ive also come to the realization that this is not a show car and will take some wear from all the enjoyment I get out of it. I bring my Basenji almost everywhere.
Sensatec is rather durable and Ive seen no permanent damage that can't be cleaned. Nappa or other finer leathers could definitely be more delicate. A used Sensatec arm rest could be a smart, cheap pickup for you. |

Out terriers love the car. They are amazing in road trips and are constantly assuming they are going in the car every time we grab the keys. I have a back seat cover with the side flaps that helps cover the door panel.

My s.o.'s dog is an 80lb muscular chow/retriever mix and he was a lot of dog for my F32 lol.
We used it once to go upstate for a bit and I bought a generic cover off of Amazon with a seatbelt leash to keep him in in place (he was only 1 at the time so a bit of a wild child). Cover was only held up by the rear headrests so not as full protective coverage as I wanted. Dog survived for the 2 hours or so but I would not recommend. Only casualty was a strong paw scratch on my door sill but dakota leather held up otherwise. That was the first and only time I've hauled him but I've been meaning to get another cover that's a larger hammock that connects to the backsides of the front passenger headrests as well should I need to carry him again in the future. I imagine i'd bring him on first, and then tether the cover to the front headrests after he's situated. Was hoping for any recs on here. |

I have a husky. It's fur everywhere. She doesn't scratch the interior or exterior.
I have the SmarTop in my F33 and she knows how to drop the top with her nose. We had her buckled in the back seat while we went inside to get ice cream and when we came out, she unbuckled herself and moved to the front seat. Here she is telling my daughter that the front seat is her's. It's just a BMW, not worried about what my dogs will do to it that my kids haven't done. |

Jfc,it's a car, not a collectors item that you laid a million dollars for, use it and let your dogs ride with you. Am I worried about them puncturing the seats, meh not really, buy something waterproof that covers your seat and don't be surprised when you still find dirt everywhere. I'm more concerned about their claws on the paint when they hang out the window, but not too concerned because I have yet to install the clear PPF plastic over the top 6 inches of the doors yet...only had the stuff sitting on the shelf for 2 years now

When your a dog person....you can't really say no to your best friend...they ride with what you got. It could be a Honda all the way to Lamborghini, even bikes 🤣 you just can't leave them at home.

The seats will be fine, but if your dog puts their paws on the door cards, that plastic seems to be a little soft and my dog has ruined the rear door ones to the extent that dog doesn't go into the car anymore. Otherwise figure out a way to protect the door cards and you'll be fine otherwise

I use the hammock style too. I recommend one with mesh/screen in the part that's between the front seats to allow air flow from the center console vents.
