Anyone have a carcover that Protects from hail?

I live in the Midwest, have a garage at home but at work my car sits out. Anyone have a cover that I could put on my car if it hails? Open to suggestions. Thanks

Any hail serious enough to dent sheet metal isn't going to be deterred by a piece of cloth.

I have not tried this one but am strongly considering it since TN is a battlefield for hot/cold fronts resulting in all kinds of "interesting" weather. The cover has bunch of good reviews on Amazon, whatever that is worth.

I have fitted car covers in the $250 - 350 range each and no, they will not protect from hail - nothing can. Get a car bubble or garage... or insurance.

I get the OP's concern, if you've never experienced significant hail...you won't understand. Having insurance is not the point...dealing with the brain damage is.

Unfortunately, not much you can do as you'll have to deal with the wind/storm creating the hail as well. Only solid solution is over head cover or garage.

I have good insurance, that's not the issue nor do I need a bubble to keep my bmw in this was not the point of the conversations. I previously had a car get damaged with 6k of hail damage. Just was asking if anyone used a car cover as I couldn't find any online when I searched so it's lost cause then.

Only suggestion I can give...when you see the sky looking like a terrible bruise (green/black) it's time to get the hell out of dodge .

We get hail here - it's terrible. Cars get totaled. You either have to not care or put it in a garage.

I wasn't being sarcastic. The "car bubble" covers will protect because there's significant air space between where the hail impacts and the car.

Googled “hail car cover”

https://www.hailprotector.com

Took 20 seconds. Or you could complain about other members responses here for a few more weeks.

I can't imagine that lasting more than 30 secs to a minute with the winds associated with most hail storms. If the mountings and fabric are stronge enough to withstand those winds, you may have to contact BMW to locate where your car was "relocated" to!

Get a reliable beater/second commuter car and drive that to work on the days when severe thunderstorms are likely.

As a Colorado resident, you should know that would mean driving the beater everyday from May 1 - Sept 30

Why not just keep some old shower towels instead of throwing them away, then when hail is in the forecast, lay them over the car with your regular car cover over them? Doesn't hail often so setting something like this up shouldn't have to be done very often. Not 100% protected but should be quite a bit better than just a regular all weather car cover.

Anyway, just a suggestion.

That's a good idea

In Germany, what Mercedes Benz does to protect their vehicles from hail besides having insurance is, they fly a crop duster plane over the clouds and spray a chemical to break down the hail stones. You should try that...

Be cool if there was an inflatable car cover that would be like an inflatable boat, just hook up an air compressor when thunderstorms are predicted.
