Need Advice Please: To keep or not to keep
So for the past few months ive been having powertrain issues with my 12'335i.
I bought it 6 months ago for $20k out the door used with 45k miles on it! I have every package they offered at the time except Msport... ----- Recently had installed jb4 and tmap ground was fried... ever since.. car runs like shit... low end power is completely gone (feels slow as shit) I keep getting a check engine light for P112E code --> manifold pressure lower then throttle angle... Ive been to 2 indy shops (1 said bad DME, 1 said need more time) Dealer doesnt wana diagnose it because its "too modified" Should i keep trying to fix it or trade it in...?? I cant find another 335 for 20-24k with similar packages and mileage :/ |

I wouldnt sell a car that has a problem honestly. It will Massively affect the value and it could take some time to sell (and implying you driving it all this time). I would concentrate on fixing the issue; then decide if you should keep it or not.

"Had jb4 installed..."
Did you take back to the shop that did the install and ask them to fix it? It sounds like they broke it. Based on posts I have seen regarding JB4 installs, its really easy to fry the DME if the install er doesnt know what they are doing. |

See i thought it was the DME in my situation too but the car ran fine for a long time after that fix...
recently (no changes by me) causes it to run super slow... but its Intermitent so its hard to identify the issue.... The indy's bmw scan tool said that the DME, throttle body, and EGS( I think) lose signal while im driving... |

Not necessarily. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with the JB4 itself in general. For every bad JB4 story, there's dozens and dozens of good ones. I think the age and condition of your engine and the installer all play a part in the success of the JB4.

I do know if you put one on you take a chance if something craps out and the car is under warranty. At least with a Dinan or MPPK you can go into your dealer and not have to hide the fact you have a tune. You go in after taking off your JB4 and tell the service department "Gee, I don't know what happened" you'll probably get laughed at.

I'm shocked the dealer doesn't want to diagnose... maybe try another dealer. At least if they can identify the issue you can decide if it's worth it or fix or sell as is.

Have you tried removing the JB4 and seeing how the car runs after? If it's fine, maybe the JB4 board is the only thing that was damaged. If it still runs like poo, see if the dealer will check it after the JB4 is removed. I know a lot of people run into issues of not being able to have their car checked because of a piggyback installed.

Dealer doesn't wana check the car because of catless DP and spliced wiring (tmap ground) lol I'll have to find a performance shop to take it to |
