N55 GFB DV+ Installation

Has anybody done this install on the current N55? I've seen great instructions for the N20, but none for the N55. I am going to do my intercooler, TIC pipes, and charge pipes soon and figured it might be easier to access it at the same time.

Ooh I'm planning on doing this too! What tic pipe are you using? I'm planning on getting the ER tic. Do you know if it fits?

I have but when I swapped turbos. It's a pita with the turbo on. It can be done but it takes a few hours and lots of patience.

Did mine during PS2 install, the metal/braided line is directly in the way of one of the bolts, it can be done using a cut off allen wrench and some patience, I'm using ER TIC and the pure inlet

I'd say a must have for running more boost. Only about $140 for piece of mind.

I'm mean there's really no review to be had, it does what it says it does. Holds boost way better longer, no boost leaks better internals. Its a no brainer for $135, especially on bigger turbos.

The oem breaks especially the diaphragm when pushing higher boost so if you mod and push above 19-20 psi this is a must.

We've sold dozens and dozens of these units. For those who came forward they've noticed increased throttle response. Otherwise were leaking boost and they never knew.

For a brand new vehicle, it's likely not worth it, yet.

Once these cars get some mileage on them the stock DV is weak.

Went to do it today, but I was only able to get my chargepipe and intercooler installed. I still have the stock TIC chargepipe...even though I am in possession of the ER one, and I didn't even attempt the DV+. I can tell you that this is near impossible with the x-drive model, which is what I have. I spent a good 1.5 hours f'ing around with the lower t-clamp on the chargepipe...what a pain!!

I am assuming you have RWD? After being under my car today for intercooler and chargepipe install...it is essentially impossible to access the diverter valve without a full day of dropping everything out of the way.

I installed mine yesterday on a 2014 Xdrive 335i, what a royal pain in the ass. I'm a Audi dealer technician, and with a wide array of tools, this took about 2 hours. Most of this was spent trying to get an angle on the hex head bolts.

To remove the top bolt I had to go from the front fan shroud with 3 wobble extensions and a ball head hex 5mm. What makes it worse is that all these bolts corrode in the turbo housing, which means you cannot spin them out by hand. Unless you have a lift, I'd say don't attempt this. I don't see a RWD car having much more room.

The install process was a little easier, I put vaseline on the threads of all the new supplied bolts, and was able to get 2 out of 3 in by hand.

So is this even worth the effort? What are some benefits of swapping them out?

If you're on stock flash you won't notice a difference, if you're running high boost on the other hand with bm3, I'm sure you'll notice a difference in the consistency of the boost.
