HELP! MPPSK or Other Tune Options
I am really interested in the 340i MPPSK. I like the fact that it is a reliable power upgrade. The only problem is that I have a lease that did not come with this originally. I heard the software part cannot be removed and resold which is a big downer since I won't be keeping the car. Also, the popping/back fire of the MPPSK is awesome!
Any ideas or other options I should consider like the Dinan Stage 1 tune? Also I really want the pop action when you let off the gas. Any ideas on power and sound enhancements would be great! Last, I really do not care for the boost controllers like JB+ or Dinan Sport b/c of the drive-ability and transmission delay. |

MPPSK software does stay with car so ... no you can't take it with you after lease. Best thing is to include MPPSK in your lease deal, too late for that now though. Dinan Stage 1 or JB4 will be your best options, go with Dinan if warranty is a big deal to you as they will "match" BMW's warranty, JB4 will only cover their tune box itself but it has more capabilities than Dinan. JB4 ($530)and Dinan Stage 1 ($1400) are both piggyback tunes so no real guaranty you won't have some drive-ability issue's but lots of folks have them with no problems. If I was you and didn't care too much about money I'd get MPPSK, it is pretty awesome! My guess is JB4 might be easier to sell after your lease is up, if you can stand the possible warranty issue's that is what I would recommend, if not then Dinan. Last option would be wait for a Flash tune but that might not happen before your lease is up. Let us know what you decide.

High Flier is correct, no way to get just the software at any kind of discounted price. There has also been some discussion questioning how well the tune would work (achieve HP/TRQ gains) without the more open exhaust system included in the kit. No one has done it so no way to tell but my guess is it would come pretty close performance wise... but it would not sound anywhere near as good.

I also have the Dinan FreeFlow exhaust so I cannot speak for the pops and burbles without it, but the stock 340s that I drove did make these sounds too. In fact, if you left the exhaust stock and just installed the Dinan Elite, I'm sure you'd get them and perhaps even more so. I know people also love the MPPSK, so you probably can't go wrong with either since the Dinan route and MPPSK route cost about the same. You could always get the Dinan Stage 1 and a cheaper exhaust, which will save money over the full Dinan setup, just hang onto the stock exhaust for lease end.

Look into the JB4.. If thats too much tune for you there is always the JB+ which takes less then a minute to install / remove.

I've been looking into the same options, but first I have to get through break-in period, LOL. (this isn't up for debate or to even bring it into the thread, please don't). I'm leaning towards JB4 or Active8. Not a huge up-front cost, easy to install and remove later, and a nice power gain while I own (usage rights to) the car. The MPPSK is tempting, but for me the added cost and the fact that it goes with the car adding value to the residual that does me 0 good in the end.. pass. |

i just signed a 3 year lease, car does NOT have MPPSK
but then under the theory of You Only Live Once, I ordered the kit and am having it installed next week. I will enjoy for the full 3 years of the lease, but will definitely be paying more for it. I guess it depends on how much time you have left in the lease? If I was 1 year in, I would probably not do it. |

Flash > piggyback always but bmws flash is a little overpriced and underpowered to be a great deal
If it pushed the car up to closer to 400/400 it would be a no brainer but BMW needs to sell its 80k cars. |

What you're saying makes sense, but a member already shared his lease details and the MPPSK cost was cut in half since the residual went higher because of this. So at the end of the day he wasnt financing the full price but maybe half of it. (Cant remember the numbers tho)
