Got a link? I have a vision for what I want to do with the interior, but the thought of drilling makes me I

I want to do the trim in red alongside the stripe along the dash. I think it'll look a bit more sporty.

Here you go...

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1398955

After I did mine in EBII, I bought an extra set to do in red for a friend...I did them and then he said nah, I don't want to go through the trouble of doing the doors....here is a pic of them. I painted them Melbourne red with glossy clear. I think the red looks outstanding! (even if it isn't a great picture.) Once he said he didn't want them I kind of stopped working on them. They just need to be wet sanded and polished.

I wasn't happy with the shade of red on the vinyl I'd wrapped, it was a little too bright. So I ordered another shade, the so called 'satin chrome red'.

This one is slightly darker and much closer to the shade of the OEM stripe.

First pic below shows a comparison, with the new vinyl on the driver side stripe (top), and the original bright vinyl on the main stripe (bottom).

The second pic shows the finished job on both stripes. The quality of this vinyl is also much nicer...it's thicker and supposedly has "air release technology" which prevents bubbles and gives a smoother finish.

Quite happy with the outcome. The red stripe really livens up the interior and makes it so much more sportier.

Yes this is what I was looking to do essentially. If I did the side trim on the doors I guess I have to remove the panels first, I can't just do it directly with it still on? Also, the center dash seems pretty tight, I've seen videos where people are just rocking it back and forth to remove. Is it really that simply? I already broke my mirror, don't want to break the dash too...lol

You might not have to take the doors off if you use something like a guitar pic and tuck the excess under the trim piece.

Use trim removal tools for the dash trim. I am always worried about breaking the long thin accent piece and I have taken about a dozen out and I am still very careful doing it...work from one side to the other...just be careful with the long thin part.

Any specific trim removal tool better for this? I'm waiting for them to come in the mail on Friday. Am I going from the top and then under the long thin piece along the length of the trim?

This is what I use. It makes removing anything a breeze...dash panels, door handles, centre console, fender vents, you name it.

I haven't removed the door trim (because I wanted to keep my stock black gloss), but for everything else, there are usually a couple thin gaps at the bottom which you can find by feeling for it with your fingernails. Just insert the tip of the trim removal into said gaps and apply leverage. Once the trim/panel loosens in that area, you can easily remove it by pulling with your hand.

Do you guys think the red stripe would be too much on a coral red interior car?

Depends if the dash is all black or has red on it too. If all black..I say it will look good...with red on the lower half, I would say no.

Does looks OEM o you can tell is a wrap???

smithf32 I never got the message...

This is an old thread, but I love the red accent strip, but I can see that it might not look great on all interiors. I think you could wrap just the accent strip and have it look good. You could also have it spray painted. I wish you were in the states, I would trade you some aluminum trim for your red!

FYI--The drivers vent accent strip will unclip if you take it out of the dash...the main dash piece is a tedious task and has to be done carefully...I have done a few.
After you separated the two dash trim pieces did you ever have any problems with them down the road? I am about to take apart mine and combine two pieces to get the color I want. Just curious if you had any issues with the plastic weld or any squeaking/noise from It?

No problems. Mine are still like new after 2 years in my car. I did a set for a Z4 customer and had to plastic weld some back together...the BMW dealer that installed them for him said they were stronger than factory. I make sure I get a good weld and make sure it looks good too. Just take your time and it will be fine. PM if you have questions as you go. I have done over a hundred now.
