Had some cracking sounds while starting to move from a complete stop or while I was braking abruptly; I popped out the center dash trim and by the way it came out, it wasnt properly clipped in. Put it back in and the noise is gone.

I spent an hour or two on my car a few weeks ago and got rid of most of the rattles. One was WAY, WAY, WAY up in the dash (driver's side, close to the door). My loaner 3 series had the same problem -- must be common. Anyway, the deadening mat against the firewall, and gong up the inside of the dash, was vibrating against something. I had to cut a slit in the mat and jam some stuff in there to silence it.
Most other rattles were silenced with jamming stuff in the LED lighted strips on the doors. Other than that the rear parcel shelf: Which I mostly solved by jamming foam in between the C pillar and the parcel shelf. I still have an occasional rattle from the rear somewhere and once in a blue moon something around the dash area/a-pillar area. But it's 95% better than it was. Hate to say it, but I doubt the dealership is going to invest the time to fix most rattles unless they are common ones that affect a lot of cars, which they already know about (like the door locks rattling). Rattles are honestly the #1 thing that would prevent me from buying a BMW again. I've never owned a car with so many rattles -- not even close. I had a 13 year old Hyundai Elantra with less rattles than this. It is truly disgraceful and BMW should be ashamed of themselves. |

^^ I agree with the above except that, 2nd to this car was my GTI which had more internal build issues and rattles than any car ever. Oddly, both Tiguans we have had have been totally solid with nary a creak. My 320i was solid as a rock with virtually no issues and this 328i had a grip of rattles I fixed myself with a trim removal tool and a bunch of weather stripping. Dont get me started. The dealer installed teflon tape to fix the creaking from the door seals. But yeah, $50k car with more rattles and crap than my 10 year old Honda prelude I had in highschool.

I have an annoying rattle/resonance in my front passenger door near the LED strip as well. Where exactly did you shim the LED strip? What did you use material-wise? Any chance you have a pic? It's driving me up the wall on hot days when i hit bumps and certain times when I accelerate and it simply buzzes. Thanks so much!

Did the weather stripping actually fix the issues? And did you simply slide it "behind" the LED light strip without taking off any trim? Thanks. I'm trying to fix it myself so I don't let the tech add more rattles while taking off the door.

The car has developed a new rattle somewhere in the instrument cluster/HUD are. Extremely annoying as it is there all the time above 30 MPH or so, no matter how smooth the road is.

Been listening to the creaking sound for eight years. Sure as hell do not want to anymore. How come they do not know how to get rid of it? Fucking German engineering.

Haha, I wish. No, it is totally ghetto. I cut a strip with a razor to fit and literally stuck it underneath the trim piece and its totally visible but it made the rattle go away. Thats where I am at with this.

Thanks for the answer to my question! In my case, it turned out it was the LED light car itself that wasn't seated fully into the aluminum housing. It was inserted part way in and I was able to seat it all the way in with a credit card by pushing the LED bar upwards in to the housing. It's been rattle free since. So it was essentially the fault of the part manufacturer.

UPDATE. No explanation. Left for Europe August 2017, stored vehicle. Vehicle out of storage March 2018. rattles are GONE. What gives???? The only hypothesis I have is all that silicone, Gummi Pflege and all those silicone inside sprays i did, somehow, worked themselves into the rubber? Kept slowly dripping or changing the rubber texture? I left the car rattling, and get it back 99% whisper quiet... |

However, there is no speaker in the center display. The display itself could rattle perhaps? I Pfledged all around it. Then i siliconed it. Under the center console the rear seat HVAC tube can bounce and rattle underneath the shifter and all the way under the armrest. The only solution is to lift that center console and add pad between the tube and the armrest. |

Here is felt tape I got from Amazon which I have used to stop the rattling in my f36. For me the undertray on the left-hand side of the driver where I keep my glasses were always rattling since it was all plastic. After I put on some of this felt tape, the problem has been resolved.

The OP has a 2016 340i? I have a 2017 340i. Here is how I fixed my door creak issue:
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6#post27756776 Start by lubing between top seals with KSP 105 after cleaning with microfibre, water, then silicone remover. You can lube the back side of the outer flocking material seal (not the flocking material itself) as noted in other DIYs if the between seal trick alone doesn't work. I doubt this would fix all door creak problems because there may be more than one origin but it may fix somebody's door problem.
