I looked at some of the M Performance options. They're priced 30% above getbmwparts.com prices. You're better off buying the car as-is, getting the M parts from getbmwparts, then selling the stock parts - or keep them and sell the M performance parts when you're done with the car and put the stock parts back on for resell.
Either way, it's much cheaper to not buy M performance parts from the factory.

Plus if leasing the cost is factored into residual and if financing, it's in payment.
Plus, biggie for me, it was way easier!

BTW, very smart move (long overdue too). BMW is now also in the aftermarket parts business. It only makes sense to make it more convenient and charge a premium. Not everyone thinks like you guys do. Most guys (myself included) would pay a little bit more and have it factory installed, rather than wait for the car, shop and buy parts online, pay someone to install them and save spare parts in my garage for later resale.
I don't see them taking that much business from the great folks at getbmwparts.com, however. |

I do have an issue with M performance parts being offered for true M cars. If they are M cars they should have been equipped with the best parts available or at least with these parts being offered as options. Which now brings me to my second point: could BMW start offering some of these parts as factory installed options when you order your car? With BMW trying to position their cars more mainstream, I believe it would make sense for the enthusiasts to order these parts when the car is being built and avoid having to pay full price + installation. My $0.02

I think it is a PITA to install something, store the factory original part, swap it back and sell the performance part. Perhaps for some it is a hobby.

I'd be more impressed if they'd have the website together before they spent money making a short film to promote it.
I'd fire all the baby ///m's and get somebody that understands the real effects of correct or incorrect marketing. |

Based on what I've seen- i'd rather these as options/accessories than be included and needlessly increase the base price. |
