Think of it as an 10.25 touch screen with Android operating system built in. I to have the iPhone X.
The "AutoKit" android app is what "pairs" your phone via CarPlay to the screen. The dongle is just the "pathway" as it now supports Android Auto and Apple Mirroring...
You wouldn't even necessarily have to utilize the dongle as you can download the Apps you mostly use to the head unit and "hot spot" to your phone. Obviously by utilizing CarPlay you have access to your Contacts and iMessage and can respond to your texts verbally (via Siri) ..
