Hey guys, I'm on the same Version as Bosley. Is it worth to upgrade? E90 with CCC. Btw. What's the difference between OSVers and AppVer? Which should I upgrade? |

So I just picked up the 7.1 version and am just now discovering the 8.1 version... Does anyone have a list of differences? Do you guys think it's worth going for the 8.1 or just install the 7.1 that I already have?

I had the same issue using the GPS splitter, I removed the splitter and used the supplied GPS arial and it solved the issue. I believe the BMW GPS and the Android GPS use different voltages. |

Where are you guys finding it best to put the GPS antenna? My car didn't come with nav so I'm using the antenna that came bundled with my Avin unit and I've mounted the antenna right in the corner of the dash on the passenger side. You can't see the cable at all, just the GPS module so it isn't too bad. Seems to be picking up my location alright but I haven't tested it much yet.
Just wondering if anyone has any better suggestions as to whether it can be tucked out of the way or I'm better off just leaving it where it is. |

Although I don't have AVIN specifically, we have the same antennas. I mounted my antenna in-between the bottom right corner of the center speaker and top right corner of the head unit (screen). Space is EXTREMELY tight and a sum-bitch to get to (left behind some DNA from my left hand). Before mounting, I first affixed velcro to the spot I felt was best, then fixed velcro to the antenna itself...felt if I ever needed to move, I could easily remove antenna and remount onto new velcro strip. .

I finally got around to actually driving my car today to try the GPS out. With Google Maps everything seems to be ok - location seems to be accurate and everything is as I'd expect. With TomTom Go it seems to be a mess, it works for a while then seems to lose track of where I am and then it works again but it basically renders it useless.
I installed GPS Status & Toolbox to keep tabs on what was going on while driving around and it seemed to have a stable and reliable GPS signal so it seems it's TomTom's fault rather than the Avin unit's or the GPS antenna. Anyone else use TomTom Go on theirs and had any similar issues? |
