Continental SC6 Tops Prestigious Autobuild.de 2018 Summer 19” Tire Tests

For the 3rd year in a row, since 2016, the Continental SportsContact 6 defeats all other competitors in the prestigious Autobild.de 19” 2018 Summer Tire Test.

The SC6 topped the MPSS in 2016 and the MSP4S in the 2018 Summer Tire tests.

Autobild used the BMW M2 to test the VA 245/35 R 19 and HA265/35 R 19

The SC6 came out #1 in Dry Handling, Braking and Noise.

Falken essentially topped the wet numbers, followed by the SC6.

Congrats for 3 years in a row.

And the lucky few with connections to buy them!

No wonder Audi uses them as OEM on several models.

I never track so tires were never something I really looked into - always looked for the "best" within my budget. With that said, seeing the Continentals fare so well across multiple years, it's surprising to see everyone on the Michelin bandwagon. Perhaps it's all marketing money, but it's equally surprising to see BMW use Michelins as the tire for new models for x months for initial production when there is a better tire that's probably cheaper.

This was not done for track tires as a good part of the rating came from wet performance. MPSS won in 2015 and was dethroned in 2016 by the SC6, but even the Michelin fans will tell you MPSS do not stand up after several track runs.

BMW has used the crappy Conti 5P as OEM for years.

Why?

Need to ask BMW.

That result seems to conflict with other reviews that say the Michelin PS4S is superior.

And availability in the US for PS4S is much better than SC6.

A Michelin press release is your idea of a unbiased test!

As people go through the trouble to import EU MSport Bumpers for their F3x vehicles, importing a set of tires is a cakewalk in comparison.

Good to know. So I would assume if you see little to no track work, the CS6 would be more ideal?

I've heard the same, specifically on Porsche forums - I wouldn't say users get laughed at but whenever someone chimes in regarding MPSS for track use, the hardcore Porsche drivers state the exact same thing that Michelins are not ideal for serious track use and more for the occasional outing and there are better bang/buck rubber out there. Simply put, many would argue that the MPSS are overrated all things considered.
