This should go to the front page, it is very important comment. I still have 2 years warranty and I want to keep it. Here in Hungary, BMW dealer would definiately look after modifications to not repair the car for free. Maybe even my turned off seat belt alarm, asd, and auto start/stop would fail the warranty.

As for warranty, best to not mod, at all, flash or piggyback, including hard parts, if warranty is the primary concern. bootmod3 keeps the CVN in tact, however, FASTA report for example is something dealer tools can read and it keeps historical peak values for many running parameters on these cars. No tune/mod is really truly warranty friendly/invisible and if you modify the car just keep that in mind and otherwise have fun! This is no different than jailbreaking your iPhone, rooting your Android device, etc. In most cases though dealer SAs don't really care and just want to get the work done on your car just like any other service shop. Being frank with them is always the right thing to do and we always suggest flashing back to stock when going in for service to keep values stock to not have it mess in any way with their diagnostic procedures.

Last thing if modding your car, which is meant to be fun, will worry you more than having fun with it just don't do it until you're ready for it

edit: somebody else in the bootmod3 group confirmed it. Load Target is the target load on a 200% scale, and Load actual is a percentage of the maximum load setpoint. I guess i see the benefits for a tuner, but this is unnecessarily complex from a logging perspective.

I think that there are 2 thing needed to be fixed:
1. Load Target (Rel.) parameter should be called (Abs.)
2. Load Act. (Rel.) parameter should use Nominal Filling datastream and be called (Abs.) too.

For now Load Act. (Rel.) is indeed showing relative percentage but to the max load setpoint value.

Here is Nominal Filling (selected from "other parameters" tab) vs Load Target (Rel.) on a chart.

Is is true to say that a tune has to send modified torque data to the 8HP50 TCE in order to avoid the torque limiter to be triggered and go past the 500Nm limit ?

Either that or they actually limit the torque or you use xhp

my source is everyone running more torque than stage 1 91 without any issues since 2013

Actually bm3 ST1 goes past 500Nm, and it's for people with or without xHP, so they probably modify the torque data sent to TCU right ?

Usually tunes have a check box to indicate Auto <> Manual/xhp
Not sure about BM3 as I use MHD

BM3 does not. I think it tricks in some way the TCU to think the torque is under 500Nm even if it isn't.
I'd like to see the same option added to BM3 but they say it's unnecessary...

Hmmm ..., I wouldn’t like that. Had Dervtech tune who used the same “trick the transmission” and it sometimes triggered a drivetrain malfunction ....

It's not needed. The transmission torque limits are above what you see in stage 1/stage 2 tunes.

This torque limit that everyone is throwing around is a rating found somewhere on a spec sheet. It is not directly correlated to the software limit or the actual transmission limits in practice. And there aren't any specific torque/hp readouts that are transmitted between the engine/transmission. The numbers being manipulated by tuners are in the sports displays.

500nm is the rated safe torque from the manufacturer, it's not limited to that torque.

For OTS maps it makes no difference. My opinion. But it's a universal option that's also in place for custom tunes that can take advantage of it.

Just tried to start the car, stuck on the cranking for almost 4-5 seconds. turned it off. and back on again it starts like normal

any info of what might happened? car is stock just with flash tune of bm3. I had the GTS startup, could that be the problem?

could be the fuel pump isn't priming. do you hear the solenoids and stuff turn on when you open the car door?
