I can do the basic coding on Esys or bimmercode for Resolution and Size. Ill probably buy the FSC codes and do a USB upload of the codes to activate the Nav.. Seems reasonable for the price and less wiring. Seems the only wiring will be the 2 wires to the idrive to update to the 7button idrive.

check other posts above. you need esys to code in the changes instead of bimmercode to fix this problem.

Now it shows full screen.

But, my trip computer stopped working, auto time and date stopped working.

How to gain back these functions?

check your fiber optic cable and make sure it’s seated properly.

Finally got the NBT HU installed in my 13 F30 With combox with the 8.8 Screen Working..Did a Successful HU_CIC to HU_NBT Got the FSC code from bimmerguru. Successfully VO Coded Everything Got no errors..

Had the Dead Screen for a bit till i Rotated the Video cable and the power wires. had to break the fakra apart to get it to work.. Using the 9292248 screen for now. It does have the blue tint and im convinced this older screen is the culprit for the Lvds cable not working correctly? Does anyone know if the part 9387453 requires the Lvds to be swapped as well?
Now for the rest the project to get this MMI installed on it Ive ordered the correct retrofit lvds cable so i can modify it to the correct postion.

I received One these with the MMI kit from roadtop and Modified it to be the original cable so i didnt have a Cut Fakra. Had to shave the metal a bit to get it to twist in the original housing and its solid Works great.. Had to swap the power/ground around as well and the pins popped right out so this is Defintly the Cable to get if you have Signal/power issues...

For the benefit of newbies stumbling onto this thread who are daunted by E-Sys/BimmerUtility, I can confirm Bimmercode can do it.

I don't know if Bimmercode have changed something lately, or my particular HU and Screen combo just worked, I can't say, but this specific setup worked perfectly first time:

Car - F30 330d - September 2016 build date.
HU - EntryNAV with 6.5" InnoLux screen (shows as S606 Business Nav on the VIN Sheet)
Used Screen from ebay - Alpine 8.8", BMW no. xxxx9387453, which came from a 2015 F34.

The hardest part is removing the 6.5" screen as the purple optical plug is right at the bottom and fiddly to get at, so I pulled the HU out to slacken the optic cable.

The 8.8's purple socket is in the middle and rear of the screen, so refitment is a lot easier.

But it goes in perfectly:



Whilst the vent panel was off, I took the opportunity to fit more felt as BMW's lame effort was completely inadequate. There are abrasion marks on the HVAC panel where the lack of felt caused vibration rubbing over time.

It's proper solid and creak free now.





The coding couldn't be simpler. Fire up Bimmercode, load the Headunit Module and then toggle Expert Mode on.

Go to 3000 HMI and scroll down to DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION, then simply tick 8.8_1280X480.





Go back then go to 3001 EXBOX, scroll down to DISPLAY_VARIANTE, and tick breites_display.





Finally, go back a few times and hit Code.

Bimmercode will do it's biz and then just after it restarts the HU, the screen will come to life.

It all works perfectly. No weird scaling issues and no blue tint.

Hi, I'm getting the same issue other people have had in this post. Swapped 6.5" for 8.8" and only able to get it to display 2/3 of the screen.

I have esys and bimmerutility connected via ENET cable. ESYS displays the unnamed folder issue so used Bimmerutility to do the coding. All seems to work but screen display doesn't change.

I assume I'm missing something. Can anyone suggest anything?

Must not have bimmerutility linked correctly.. Bimmerutility is what decodes the blank folders…from what I’ve seen on here u need to use Esys to fix the 2/3 screen issue…

Did you get it working any time?
I have a F34 2015 with Evo 4 HU.
I have changed the two parameters and it worked before without any problem.
Then I had a recall from BMW in beginning of the year when they updated all my software in the car. After that, I got back the old 4:3 format and lost my sound settings.
If I read out the settings from my HU they are still set to correct values.
I have tried and changed the settings to different values without any difference

Anyone else that have latest software in your modules that have it working?
I assume they have changed something so the old settings doesn't work any more

Has anyone ever had the issue of adding the 8.8 screen, then coding then nothing? Totally blank screen and also now don’t have head unit in by bimmer link list which I suspect means when I connect up esys it’ll not be in the SVT tree either?
No error codes but if it’s dropped off the list I guess it won’t anyway.

Am I correct to think an 8.8 screen will display something on the screen prior to coding ? Just not correctly ?
