drive while intel pipe broken N20

Hi,

I found my intel pipe is broken, but I think I've been driving like this for about 2 months.

My car was running a little rough idle while cold, but it becomes smooth when it warms up. since it's too small and no Engine light, I thought it was because of the weather. I do can hear some hissing sounds when I let off the gas pedals while driving.

I was too busy and ignored this symptom till yesterday, I checked my engine bay, and I thought there may be some leak in the intake system so I shook the intel pipe, and it suddenly cracked into two pieces. Can't believe how did I drive in these 2 months.

I ordered a new CTS intel pipe, I also bought a new one from Amazon for a temporary solution, because the CTS pipe needs two weeks to be delivered.

My car is 180hp 320i 125000km and complete stock, I never thought it could happen to my low horsepower car.

I replaced it today, and here are some pictures. I can see there is a lot of dirt mixed with oil in my intel pipe, but the charge pipe seems clean. Hope these dusts can be caught by oil. lol

I'm gonna change my oil right after, any thoughts on how bad my engine could be now?

Engine should be fine. That pipe is direct to the turbo so it depends on how much material got into the pipe, as it would go right into the turbo. Once the new inlet is installed just listen to it and see if it sounds funny. If not, you should be ok. Turbo life may be reduced but will be fine to run.

You’ll be fine, but I’d advise when you can to get an metal one due to the plastic ones over time falling apart.

Thats about it.

I can’t get past the intel pipe lol. Dam spell correct. I’d venture to guess your crankcase vent hose is shot too-connects to inlet. Basically can’t touch that thing without it crumbling so consider ordering that too.

Isn't that tube after the air filter? If so, I wouldn't say it's "no issues, engine will be fine". It would have been ingesting dirty air for 2-months!
