There's some drone around 2000rpm with the valves closed, but if you listen to music at any volume other than off, its not all that bad. Plus you can open the valves and that pretty much goes away.

Either way though it's quieter than the Dinan axle back I've had on the last couple of years. I do also really like the tone of it more now, especially at idle with the valves closed.
Sounds good! Would love to hear some revs and maybe some driving clips if possible. First time I’ve ever seen this MPE Version fitted to a n55 car like ours.

Sounds good! Volume (which is hard to tell on a video of course) sounds similar, as does the tone, but there is much less of the bass tones than with the M2 axle back. I don’t have the drone at 2000rpm but I do feel some of the lower notes when the engine is “almost” lugging like the N55 liked to do with the 8AT, mostly at 1200-1500rpm. Sounds great though and definitely an upgrade from the stock box, N55 can really sing at those higher tones

I'll try to get some videos in the spring when the roads clear up and make a new thread in the N55 Section for them.

Thanks! I thought about going the M2 route but didn't really want to deal with having to cut and re-weld the OEM exhaust together again to make it work. Under 2000rpm this setup is very quiet though while your cruising and that's a nice change from the Dinan, which made all its noise under 2100rpm all the time.

Installed the OEM single slat grilles, switched from aftermarket double slat style.

Also installed the OEM updated style diffuser. Just enough style and aggression for a non M car imo. The stock flat/round ish style always looked something was missing to me. Thanks for the help from Skyhigh and Solenoidal

Pleas excuse the dirty car lol.

The front license late bracket seems to be off centre to the right slightly. Not sure how that even happened. Is there a way to centre it?

Next steps - wash and debadge (or the other way around) and it will look even better 😉

Definitely need to wash it! The weather hasn’t been ideal. Hopefully soon!

Not sure about debadging. I like to show off the B58 haha.

I want a lip spoiler but can’t find one that’s subtle. Debating if F36 looks better with or without. I see you don’t have one either. Don’t like anything high profile. Any suggestions?

Decided to do an experiment. I was inspired a lot by Fluid Motorworks Union to add a megaphone to reduce the rasp at lower RPMs and help exhaust flow at higher RPMS with frequency testing. 3" -> 4.7" -> 3" megaphone added to the exhaust right after the 2 45 degree bends. I used an Ebay copy of this, but I think the actual FMU 3" -> 5" -> 3" may help quite a bit more.

F30 3.28i n20. catless downpipe modded to exit at a true 3" instead of 2.5" from factory
Full 3" mandrel bent exhaust with megaphone added after second 45 degree bend
F30 335i Active Autowerke muffler Gen1 (didnt come with exhaust valve)

The rasp below 3600 rpm is gone and the slight rumble cruising around town is quieter believe it or not. I would love to see N55 and B58 guys give this a go too.

I Think I have made the best sounding N20 so far outside of N20 race cars with sequential transmissions

Finally got off my rear and started my Denali D7 driving light install. Lots of measuring and test fitting to find the right combination of clamp, bolt, bracket and spacer size & orientation. Need to order some M8 stainless hardware and move onto the wiring.

Picked up my 2017 F30 330e recently. This thing goes like the clappers (drove a much slower car before). Now looking into ISTA+ and coding it to mess with what features i want to customise, also looking into adding a rear view camera and somehow turning off the auto start/stop in sport mode as it's quite annoying at times. (also a small lip spoiler to give it a bit of style)

Nice. I saw the Fluid MotorUnion vid last year and have been wondering how a megaphone would sound on our cars, maybe in place of the stock resonator. Here's the clip for others to reference:

Thanks! I’ve messed with so many exhaust system setups over the years I figured why not give this a go. Very happy with this.

Setup 1: Catless downpipe with stock resonator and stock muffler.

Setup 2: catless downpipe with stock resonator and 335i muffler.

Setup 3: catless downpipe with stock resonator and active autowerke muffler

Setup 4: modified catless downpipe to full 3” exhaust and active autowerke muffler

Setup 5: modified catless downpipe to 3” full exhaust and vibrant high flow resonator and active autowerke muffler

Setup 6: modified catless downpipe to 3” full exhaust and no resonator and active autowerke muffler with added stock exhaust valve (made it quiet when in comfort. Big plus).

We are here: setup 7: modified catless downpipe to 3” full exhaust with megaphone and active autowerke muffler with added stock exhaust valve

Hopefully this helps people down the road and we get less rasp more clean exhausts with bmw direct injection cars going forward

I am personally not a fan of the snowplow look. Plus forums are full of constant complaints about broken lips. The non-OEM ones brake alone from high speed (dangerous!). And I enjoy high speeds

I don't want to plow snow with my car haha. Don't want to have less clearance either. But I'd like a very subtle lip spoiler on the trunk.

Ah, on the trunk you meant. Misunderstood.
No, not a fan of that either. I find the F36 specifically looks complete without it. But that‘s just me. I often think less is more and fancy a clean look (incl no badges &#128521.

I go back and forth cuz I have not seen anything that makes the car look great!

What I really want are the IKON headlights, but the OEM are darn expensive and nothing aftermarket seems trustworthy.

How did setup 3 sound? Torn between active autowerk and dinan axel back. I drive an F31 and not trying to sound too aggressive. I’ll also probably go with catted DP.

I run a highflow cat dp to stock midpipe to Active Autowerke 335i axleback. It sounds great full throttle, pretty nice otherwise, but can drone. It's not too loud to me either, and you can easily hold a normal level conversation. I'm thinking to change to probably an AWE touring axleback as I've read it takes care of (or most of) the drone, this coming from other guys that went AA to AWE.

The megaphone fixed the drone/rasp like I couldn?t believe. I?m tempted to add a second one just in case and leave it alone.

You can also have your exhaust shop add the factory valve into the driver side exhaust outlet (it?s the same diameter 328 and 335 mufflers onto the AA - which is what I did a couple months ago) and keep the valve closed driving around town. Pretty quiet overall with these two changes.

What kind of rattling are you getting?

I have the MPPSK as well and have been getting a mild rattling sound recently mainly when accelerating from a stop is when it?s heard. I thought maybe it was the parking brake clip again (got it fixed a couple years ago) but the dealer says it?s not that. Just been dealing with it for the time being. Without having a lift I?ve been assuming it?s the exhaust rattling a bit somehow.

Inside the muffler is where the rattle is, it’s the baffles. I got it repaired last year but it’s starting to make itself prominent again so I went ahead and bought a new kit from BMW. Now with their 2 year warranty and the software tune and the sticker goodies

I’m just not sure how my immobiliser will work when they flash my ECU for the MPPSK tune, fingers crossed no problems. And for sure they’ll be able to see I’ve flashed xHP and MHD even if reverting back to stock.
