I removed the CDV on my E92 335 and I couldn't believe the difference... I could never understand why they would put that in in the first place, seems so stupid.

With you being EWG, stock turbo is pretty good up to around 400whp ish with the proper octane (give or take obviously) - a bit more with ethanol mixes and meth, but you are straining the stock turbo and putting it beyond its efficiency at that point. Turbo upgrade is really the best option if you want well into the 400s and 500s reliably, but there are other factors that come into play that most people neglect or don't want to see and then complain about it later on. For example, PS2 was great with all the supports, but remember then you need the tuning and then the fueling, etc. to get the most out of it... I would also recommend some sort of suspension upgrade to help put it down (maybe brakes but I guess I'm getting carried away now). In my situation (6 speed) I also needed an upgraded clutch and now my rear tires will need replacing soon (I can light them up through 2nd pretty easily now from 40mph hits)... so you see how one that may lead to another and that creeps up on you real fast unfortunately - so be prepared for that and enjoy it for what it is!

They add it for people who don't know how to drive manuals properly ... I did read they added it in years ago when they were covering clutches as part of maintenance or warranties at the time so it would help minimize clutch riding and slipping and in essence help them have longer life span. If you are properly driving manual, it has no negative impacts on the clutch.

I was playing around with the custom burble slider in BM3. Here is a little clip of my setup. Sounds pretty insane in person, but sometimes I think it's too much for me (either I'm getting old or I just like to hear the turbo spool more vs burbles ) ... The great part is at least I can tweak them to my liking. I'm back to OEM style for now.

Nice to be able to turn that off when your wife or mother (for some people the same person...) gets in the car and you want "normal". Then you get evil, turn it on and give er a RIP ! Nice.

Yessir! The burble settings change with the different driving modes for on the fly changes. Comfort/Economy = no burbles and sport/sport + = burbles

Updates!!
Clutch is finally broken in and we can continue tuning I have been getting a lot of PMs regarding the new XDI HPFP... I created a new thread on it. So anyone who is interested, go check it out! https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1563313 The TTFS XDI pump is holding 20-21 psi the whole RPM range on PS2 turbo. This is only on 93 octane Still dialing in the setup, we just started upping boost and damn the car is a missile! This is a nice setup for even pump gas setup. Once we start throwing more octane at it (ethanol mix or race gas) we can bump the timing up more aggressively, but trust me the car is quite fun as is Here is my setup from this morning - 20+ psi at 6.5k rpm on 93 octane pump gas - fuel pressure is perfect. And yes.... we are planning an ethanol tune as well

Love the new Meaty look my friend! I have 275's on mine and about to drop her down. I'm aiming for a similar fitment, I love your ride! I'm Also doing the M-sport Front January, trying to get on your level

Here is a side by side comparison of stocker vs. XDI-35 hpfp. Both logs have same hardware parts (aside from the upgraded pump) and are both in top of 3rd gear @ 6k RPM (same exact speed too - that was actually a coincidence) You can see the stock HPFP would dip/crash on anything above 16-17 psi (sometimes associated with a rough fuel cut and buck - I'm sure a few of you know what I'm talking about lol). I'm running 20-21 psi on the XDI-35 pump and no fuel pressure dips at all. Car feels real beastly up top at 20+ psi with solid timing too . Dyno numbers coming

Those fuel numbers look great. They really made a great product in that pump. Now hopefully it can come down in price and not be more than the turbo upgrade itself.
Good to see someone doing it the right way though. Amazing build once again. |
