I have a BMW F20 and I have recently purchased Carplay box from aliexpress for the NBT unit (mine is CIC but with NBT cables), there is a problem with the screen can somebody help me plus the Carplay won't connect there is only Bluetooth symbol on the left side, only Airplay works...

Does anyone have the pin layout for the quad lock?

I installed an mmi unit for an f30 with pro nav nbt (had pro nav so box had to be located elsewhere) and all was working well. But soon as tried to refit the headunit with quad lock there is not much space so spent a bit of time trying to wiggle it around. Finally got it all in,the headunit would not work. Changed over the quad lock and it’s working again so must’ve damaged a wire in the wiring loom of the mmi quad lock. Any suggestions on which wires to check over and fix it?

When it works it seems to only work on mcu files.

But you should be able to force flash the ispbooot.bin file by pulling the power plug from the mmi, inserting the usb drive containing the ispbooot.bin file, then holding the idrive back buttons while simultaneously plugging the power back in.

After about 20 - 30 secs, while continuing to hold the back button, you should then see the update screen.

Thanks for a reply, is there a possible option how do not unplug power without opening dashboard panes again? I already tried putting a piece of paper to block holded "back" button and left the car to deep sleep but after I had no success.

I just want to try everything before unscrewing dasboard.

Reboot (3 sec. back button) solves this, but i wander if there is a software update.

Should i update to roadtop b2 latest version?

I actually did some more work this morning and finally fixed the unpack & repack for GEMINI_PACK.BIN.
There are still a couple of open issues though.
That itself is not really the issue but testing is. I only have one (half-broken) unit and flashing various versions to test is very time consuming if at all possible. On top of that there is no way to bench test so everything has to be done in the car and currently it's freezing outside :/
I am not yet sure how to best transform my revision 1 unit into a B version (and how to go back). B versions generally lack a lot of partitions so I'll have to fill them with partitions extracted from another ISPBOOOT.BIN.

In general GEMINI_PACK.BIN is a delta update file built from an ISPBOOOT.BIN as baseline, i.e. the latter contains all partitions (as usual) and then they pick 4 or 5 partitions out to create the GEMINI_PACK.BIN. The units themselves (A and B version) are still the same but their software just asks for a different update file.

How experienced are you in these topics? (Unix, Coding, Embedded, Reverse Engineering, etc)

Yes, this will be the issue then.
Initially people have reported that sound is missing without the optical cable but this does not always seem to be the case, other people are missing the clock and/or trip stats etc such as yourself.
I clarified it in the first post now.

Just started unpacking & reversing the binary. There’s some interesting stuff in the squashfs filesystems.

If it accepts 8032 as the PIN, then yes, that is the RoadTop B2. Whether or not you feel the need to update it is your call.

Has anyone had problems with their Carplay not working correctly after updating to iOS 16? I can't navigate the menu when entering the Spotify or Google Maps app (probably more apps as well). The knob works when not in an app, so in the main menu with the app icons etc.

I’ve not had any issues with ios16 and CarPlay. Perhaps try a reboot of the phone and the MMI box??

I updated to the newest MCU and did a reboot of my phone, seemed to have worked. I still get the missing sound issue sometimes, where I have to reboot the box before AUX seems to work.

I'm sure someone will correct me, but I was under the impression that a Firestick needs to be actively connected to your home wireless network to function correctly, but I could be wrong. Also I was also under the impression that the cars USB socket would be unable to output the power necessary to make the Firestick operate, but the MMI's connection might. But that's only if you can overcome the problem of your home network being out of range when you drive..if there is even a setting that uses it.

I have the same problem, sometimes no sound.
A reboot fixes this.

KJ-NAVI CAR Store aliexpress(do not buy from this seller!!!!!) told me that I need to update the software, he send me a link to download the file I have tried but it says burn failed, contact the factory...

Also, the wifi and bluetooth are connected and the carplay is not working, the only thing that is working is AirPlay.
