I had 1,2,3,7 ON but switched 7 to OFF. Both operate the same for me - no issues. Currently 1,2,3 ON per Andream's recommendation.

In OEM iDrive I just turned bluetooth off. Phone auto connects to the CarPlay and it boots up when I start the car. |

I only remember from other Carlinkit products that Android Auto is seriously stretched and basically unusable, that's why I never really followed up on their products. The images are definitely identical and just copied from Andream (or maybe the other way around, who knows). The question is which unit/model you get in the end. At least according to the description, that unit does not support wireless Android Auto (only wired), so maybe it's the manufacturer for the BimmerTech unit? //Edit: Had a look around. They have several listings of the same product. Some reviews are really terrible and say it's not working at all or not wireless. Confirms my (bad) impression I had of Carlinkit. Quote:
So for now I will keep it that way. |

I could be wrong, but I feel like this is the original product (which is from Carlinkit):

I am about to install the wireless MMI in to my M240i (NBT Evo id4) to get access to CarPlay and its functions. I am really grateful for getting the benefit of your collective experience in the installation of the kit and your thoughts about its use.
Can I ask, I presume that apart from a few small issues that will hopefully get sorted out via updated firmware that you are all pretty positive about the benefits that it brings to cars such as ours? |

You can remove the dash trim (air vent) with just your fingers, just be careful pulling out the passenger side where it goes thin as they can be a little fragile going by some of the used ones i've seen for sale on ebay. |
