Did you try, disable Wifi and Bluetooth on the phone if carplay is connected, afterwards activate Airplay on the MMI and afterwards enable Wifi only on the phone and check if connected by wifi to the mmi box. If connected enable mirroring/airplay on the device.

Yes, I even deleted the Carplay connection for the MMI and phone just to be sure that Carplay doesn't affect in any way the Airplay.

So I just received and answer from Andream. Apparently, the Airplay function doesn't work with iOS 17

Strange, BMW EVO ID6 with Roadtop MMI Firmware ER1.76R2 and VW Golf with Andream MMI FW 1.6.16R1.

Airplay with iPhone 13 and iPhone 15pro, both with Firmware 17.4.1 works on both cars without isssue.

MCU on BMW 23.4.13.117
MCU on VW Golf 21.10.21.22


But with older firmware (BMW ER174 and Golf 1.6.14) with the same MCU Airplay does not work, wrote to RoadTop support for BMW and Andream for VW Golf, got for both updates and afterwards it works on both.

This firmware looks like from Europe, somebody else posted one similar recently. I’m not aware of any previous links or more information about these units.

The best thing is to ask the seller. If they send you the wrong unit, at least you get a chance to return it.

Can anyone tell me if I have the most recent firmware for my unit? I'm not even sure what B2 version it is or what firmware list I should be looking in on the Page 1.

I have just installed the Road Top MMI to my ID6 F36.
Since this thread is huge and it is difficult to find specific information, can somebody help with some questions?

- Do I have to connect the AUX USB to the armrest socket? I selected car BT in the settings and I could hear music but instructions from google maps were silent. I am using Android Auto. I've read several posts saying that connecting is not necessary but without the cable and the car BT setting I have no sound.

- I tried one phonecall but neither I could hear anything nor the other person could hear me speaking. Didn't change any settings as I would like to use the AA call app

- There was a mic cable inside the harness, but I don't know where to connect it. Is it necessary that I connect it? Is this why they couldn't hear me on the phone?

First of all. What is your firmware version?

Not sure if any difference on EVO, but for NBT no need of a mic:

- remove all Bluetooth/wifi pairings between car, phone, MMI
- setup all Bluetooth/wifi pairings between car, phone, MMI
- make sure you give the several levels deep permission in Android to the MMI in both BLE and wifi (in iPhone under BLE set device as "car stereo")
- make sure in car OEM menu that you gave your phone: data, audio, etc all permissions
- in car OEM menu select Multimedia => External => Phone ....or the MMI voice/audio will have problems
