Bluetooth to play music?
Hi all,
New to all of this so please go easy! I have recently purchased a 2014 330D with standard Nav fitted(not professional) I can use Bluetooth to make phone calls but can’t play music through Bluetooth or through a usb cable. I have an iPhone 8 Plus. Am I correct in saying this is normal and I need to enable Enhanced Bluetooth? If so can I do this and how do I do it. I could just buy a cable but would like to play music through Bluetooth and maybe see artwork etc if possible. Any help would be very grateful. I’m really not sure what to do. Thanks |

Hi,
Have you checked your Bluetooth settings in idrive? When I connect my iPhone by usb, music via Bluetooth gets disabled and I need to enabled it again in idrive in order to have music via Bluetooth working again. I don’t think artwork shows via Bluetooth, I have enhanced Bluetooth and artwork is only shown when connected with USB. If you want to enable enhanced Bluetooth you’ll need esys to code the car, but IIRC it depends on your combox if this is possible or not. (Check under the floor in your trunk, if it’s there it should be possible) |

Hi KingpinRCR,
Thanks for the reply. I have looked through the settings and can’t see an option anywhere to do with enabling Bluetooth. I’ve looked for a Combox and have found one where you said. Maybe I have the wrong Combox to use Bluetooth for music? As I say the phone Bluetooth side of things works fine. Any ideas? |

welcome to the forum! if you have this combox in the trunk, you may be able to code in for bt music playback. I did not have this in my car and I went with a bluetooth module that allowed me to stream over bt.

This is how i enable audio by bluetooth in idrive:
-menu -phone (third option for me) -bluetooth (last option for me) -highlight your phone (don’t click it, just put the red box over it) -tilt the idrive knob to the right -configure device -check the box of audio (second to last option for me) -ok (last option) To exit the menu just tilt your idrive knob to the left a few times. Edit: if this doesn’t work you’ll need to code enhanced bluetooth. You can fdl-code like in the link in the post above or vo-code. (I prefer vo-coding because it will stay when your car gets an update at the dealer and fdl-coding will get lost with an update...) Last edited by KingpinRCR; 04-17-2019 at 09:26 AM.. |

Thanks for the welcome. I have that box in the trunk. It’s a 2014 version compared to the 2012 one on the thread you linked to. It looks as though I maybe able to code it using bimmercode. How do I do that and what do I need?! |

Thanks. I’ve tried that and it only shows a phone symbol, there’s no music symbol to enable. I guess I don’t have it so may need to code it. To be honest don’t know where to start with that! |

Don’t worry, read these forums and you’ll get the hang of it real fast. I don’t know anything about computers, but i can fdl and vo code my car.
You’ll need a obdII to ethernet-cable and esys. The software you can download for free, just ask shawnsheridan for a link in his thread (https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=965385) You’ll probably also need launcher rearm, wich you can get here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1457494 Both shawnsheridan and Tony Twoclicks are very helpfull people. Just carefully read the readme files included in the downloads and you’ll be fine. Another option is the Bimmercode app, wich only does fdl-coding. You’ll need to purchase the app and an obd dongle. There are 2 kinds of dongle, bluetooth and wifi. I don’t have experience with bimmercode, i only use esys, but i’ve read that the wifi version is more stable than the bluetooth version. Bimmercode is pretty foolproof. If you like i can send you a few pdf’s regarding coding with esys so you can check it out how easy it is, just pm me your email adress. |

BMW F30 No Combox - Enhanced Bluetooth Coding
Hey guys;
I've read through a lot of posts regarding the enhanced bluetooth issue us F30 owners have to work around. My details are as follows: I do NOT have a Combox in my trunk. I emailed a Bimmer-Tech rep and they checked my vin number and confirmed that my car is eligible to be coded in order to activate EBT for $226. I would much rather code it myself. All I have is the Veepeak OBD bluetooth and Bimmercode. Would love some help to figure out what device my car has that enables the telephone bluetooth that I currently have and how to code it to stream music from my phone to my car. I have the standard head unit, and the only function that I care about is music streaming directly to my F30. Thanks guys! |

I made a video a while ago on how to code bluetooth music. You do need a combox in your car for this to work, if you don't have a combox I'm not sure what you can do.

Get yourself a ENET cable and code it yourself ?
226$ is allot of money for 5 min coding. |
