Thats the correct one but not the right size. You'll need 24"x48" to cover the whole space w/o running out of wrap.

I believe you want to remove the vent one above it first...then the headlight trim should come off easily afterwards. |

DiNoc or 1080
Hey everyone! The carbon vinyl wraps look great... Definitely another project to add to the list.
I want to hear more input on the Dinoc vs 1080 differences... I'm assuming most used the dinoc (see title)... I will be ordering the Vinyl & I'm still undecided on which to get... 1080 or Dinoc... Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

The 1080 is more shiny and more glossy w/o coming closer to the "real" CF look in my opinion. Depends on your taste what to prefer.

One open point is the shark antenna. Actually its also wrapped and the question is, how about to leave it into EBII like the car and use it as accent to the roof? Hmmm...your ideas?

I used this stuff on my F30 CR car.
Looks 119894042801382 times better than the wood!

Not my personal taste but perfect matching to your seats. Did you wrap them on your own with alcantara??

Thank you for your comments. I used Automotive self-adhesive alcantara (bought it in Russia, so I think that the link won't help and give necessary inforamtion). Nothing difficult, but I've spent 3 hours to do that.
Originally wanted to make them glossy black. |

Does anyone know if this will stick to the top of the dash? i.e., the soft touch padded material. I have another car with a light colored dash which causes bad reflections from the sun.

It was a pleasure to work with alacantara because it is much easier than with vinil but still you need practise. You can also use selfadhesive leather. I don't have such experience but seems to look good. |

Hi chaps, just come across this thread and there is some very nice work going on. Like the Alcantara, looks very nice.
AWMSPORT, I have tried most of the different types of CF wrap. From the old style 3D, Di-Noc and most recently, 4D, 5D and 6D. Not a fan of the older 3D as it can tend to look just like carbon textured vinyl. The 4D is very good if you want the satin, deep lustre carbon with some very good depth and visual affect that real CF has. The 5D just looks like shiny 3D and dont particularly like the effect. 6D is also very good as it has a high gloss finish with very very realistic depth and weave. The only draw back with the 6D is if you apply it to a flat surface, in certain lights, you can see the surface of the vinyl and not the glass smoothness you get from high gloss lacquered CF. It looks most realistic on curved surfaces where it has been stretched a bit. I've just finished re-trimming bits of my 435's interior: 4D Centre console trim not yet swapped in these pics You may notice that the dash centre (large vent surround) trim does not have the trim finisher below it (gloss black/silver/blue). My standard one did (interior trim was hex alloy/gloss black finishers) but I didnt quite like the look with CF so acquired a base model dash trim that doesnt have the lower trim finisher. It also made it easier to cover the whole single piece rather than trimming along the line. Problem with trimming along the line means there is the potential of peeling or poor cut line where the wrap ends. I opted for 4D as I felt it looked absolutely spot on. The 6D looked very good indeed but in certain lights, the not quite glass finish gave the game away. Luckily, I managed to get a load of interior bits off EBay very cheaply and just played around with different finishes and compared them in the car. I've only swapped the door pulls, centre trim (not in pics above) and the dash trim. The trim takes seconds to pop out (always ensure you use a proper trim removing tool!) and because BMW make very good trim fasteners and attachments, there is no worry with rattles or creaks when replacing them. The acid test was when a friend of mine detailed my car and he thought it was genuine CF (he details everything from Ferraris to Lambos and Porsches etc). Even on close inspection, he believed it was real CF. As many have said on this thread, photos do not do a good, well applied wrap justice. I'll post some more photos now the cockpit is complete. PS What I have found that makes the 4D or 6D look especially good is to rub some cherry or brown Kiwi boot polish over it, wiping off after 5 mins then doing the same with black kiwi. The cherry or brown help to give a very subtle browning effect that some CF has. Personal preference. This helps to give it a really deep lustre and also protects the surface a little bit.
