I have confirmed this exhaust does not meet the emissions standards for Australia and as such is not available here. Pity.

Do you go off of US standards or have your own set of standards? The only reason why I see this not meeting standards is if you use DEF.

I do not know what standards we use, but this information came from BME head office in Australia.

Feedback after some thousands of KM's now. The sound seems to be more present now, I was a bit worried in the beginning because you could hardly hear it inside the car (no activesound inside of my car - not without coding at least).

But now I've got some thousand km's on the car, the sound is much better in my opinion, you notice it inside the car so I guess it can get pretty loud outside of the car. My neighbour loves the sound (he was a mechanic before retirement) and he told me he steps outside when I leave because it sounds great what better comment than that can you get I guess so I'm definitely happy with this piece, loving the sound (much better than standard Diesel sound), deep burble on low rev sometimes, burble when you reverse and shut the engine off, sporty sound when you push the pedal to the medal

Wanted to add some more fresh info.

Just had this system installed to my F30 330d pre Facelifted model.

WOW

This exhaust is absolutely amazing.
Not only it looks so much better than standard exhaust on 330d

But the sound it produces is thrilling.

After installing M Performance power kit and Body kit,
The car looks was great and driving experience was great but lack of sound was making me thinking about a change.

This exhaust is a game changer!!

In comfort it sounds good. I can hear it outside and inside when acceleting. Sound very good and very classy.

On Sport it sounds fenomenal. Outside and inside it's brilliant.
Whoever thinks about it, go for it.
I can clearly hear it inside having my radio on and windows shut.
Outside it sounds like a proper V8 engine. 330d engine sounds really good and there is no hint of a diesel as soon as you drive off.
My mates can't believe how good it sounds.

LOVE IT!!

And it will get even louder after few weeks according to BMW service apparently as there is some fluid in it that needs some time to go through.

Can't wait lol

Just to add - I had an audi RS4 4.2 V8 with optional sport exhaust for over 3 months not so long ago and the sound my car makes now is nearly identical to the V8 RS4 exhaust!!

I honestly can't believe people are considering this hokey crap.
It might look better, fine. But fake exhaust? Want the little whistle that goes in your tail pipe that sounds like a turbo? Don't forget to swap out for a fart can first.
Also, if you don't have a turbo car, you can install one of those electric "turbo" intakes too.

I know, I know...to each their own. And I'm usually the first to bark that. But these are sweet rides. Why would any sane and proud Bimmer driver want to put something so cheesy on these cars? That is something I would expect from a punk kid driving a beat up Honda that can't afford to modify it proper. You know the MO. Factory everything except the fart can and the 10' wing...trying to pull off like they are driving a fully modified 10 second car out of "Fast and Furious".
I simply can't believe BMW is using this gimmick.

FAIL.

😂😂😂

Its a real exhaust not a fake one lol

Real metal exhaust connected to my car.
Making a real nice subtle noise lol

Only there is a speaker connected to make the noise louder when on sport mode.

So the only fake in here is the nice lovely growl I can hear every time I rev my car in sport mode.

And its an amazing addition to my over 300bhp 650Nm beemer.

No need of dreaming about the fast a furious cars anymore

Don't like it, fine
But don't call it fake when you don't know what it is and how it works.

Lmao

I know it's a "real" metal exhaust, and I'm not dreaming of fast and the furious. The little wanna be ricers out there are.

Lol..."don't call it fake when you don't know what it is and how it works."

You said it... a speaker to make it sound better.

I actually have read about it. It's a speaker attached to the exhaust by the tail pipe. Plain and simple. When I first heard about it I had to look it up....I was SURE that it was incorrect. BMW would NEVER do something so hokey.
Unfortunately, I was wrong. I'd rather drive the sleeper that they don't see/hear coming, than put something like this on my car. AKA RICER.

FAKE.
FAIL.

I bet if I were to do a search here, I bet I could find threads making fun of the exhaust clip on that simulates a turbo sound/whistle. Same same.....

I'm not going to keep beating a dead dog, last post about it. More power to ya.
I just can't believe any true enthusiast would see value in something of this nature.

exhaust sound actuators are fitted to far more petrols than diesels.. probably cars that you haven't realised at least half the noise is fake!

just ordered myself a Kufatec sound system to add to my already straight through mod.

check them out

Not sure but a guy from Australia says it doesn't meet emissions standards there and judging by your profile being from California, I doubt it meet Californias strict emissions

i have doubts because I got the m-performance dual exhaust tips for the 320d and put it on my 328d, and the tips had to be extended for it to work.

I ordered the exhaust that is specific to the US N47 28d. Not sure exactly what the difference are between the 320d and 328d (US) but it fits and looks good on my US 328d.

Sorry guys I guess I should post all the info up since it's not easy to find it. Just got back from Munich so I was lagging a bit.

At one point BMW listed an exhaust for the pre-lci's but then it was curiously deleted though you can see parts listed for the tips, module and wire harness. I usually take that as a sign that the full kit was available at one time so they have to show replacement parts in case something needs to be replaced. Anyway, it's a bit of a mystery nonetheless.

Any time you see a BMW kit, it usually has instructions to go along with it. I had saved the instructions quite a while ago and also pulled down the latest. The first page reveals the exact part number for the US. I've attached the instructions for your reference.

Here are all the part numbers you'll need for the M-Performance exhaust:

18 30 2 409 233 This is the full exhaust kit excluding tips and rear valence if you have a single exhaust tip from the factory.

18 30 2 406 604 Exhaust tips.
51 12 8 054 198 M lower valence (for dual pipe)

Instructions attached.
