Is HPFP upgrade required for PS2?

If one is targeting 500whp, what other components outside of the actual PS2 turbo are required?

And do I need any of the items suggested in the drop boxes here:

https://x-ph.com/bmw-n55-pure-stage-2/

Anything else needed? What about HPFP?

What’s the labor time to install this?

Definitely fuel upgrade required to achieve 500+...either PI or upgraded HPFP. PI is the least expensive option, although there will be other HPFP options available that will be relatively close in price to PI coming “soon”

HPFP upgrade or PI is required for more than 500whp I'm pretty sure.

And I would say yes to the diverter valve upgrade, and go for a high flow inlet.

i rather have my fuel controlled by one system , the cars own DME .
Pi requires a second controller and many extra wiring , tubing mods etc .
A hpfp upgrade is more straight forward and requires only a decent tune .
For your N55 , there are 3 options

the known route with Xdi ,
you can always try a HDP6 or hdp5evo from a B58 ,
check the hpfp option topic .
The third one is the yet to be announced spool performance pump .

All true T_H_O_M_A_S don't forget to mention those rocking the old school N54 style pumps can now go with the helix overdrive kit.

How much power should I expect with a straight up PS2 upgrade and nothing else? Would I need a tune after install?

And then if I add the HPFP, would I need a tune as well?

Yes, you'll either have to run the Pure OTS maps or get a custom tune.

Mostly because of the higher flow, if you dont run the right map your AFR's can lean out too much.

Are you referring to the Stage 2H map? That’s the only one I see for upgraded turbos.

But if I add a HPFP, then I would have to go custom tune to take advantage of the additional fueling capabilities for extra power? Or could I still run the Stage 2H map?

Yes the 2H map.

I don't know if you need a custom to take advantage of the upgraded HPFP but I'd assume so or else it would just act like a "normal" HPFP.

The shop is also asking if I’m upgrading the injectors. Would that be required to hit 500whp?

Well, come to think of it, they didn’t ask if I’m RWD or AWD and I didn’t mention.
Might have to call other places too, if I decide to do this. But seems hard to find shops that do this kind of custom work.
